Dec 26 - 31

Monday - Weight still 151 (151.4) not bad considering it was over the holiday weekend and I ate too much chocolate. Need to get focused. Did a 2 mile treadmill run this morning then stretched out my lower back as I took ornaments off the Christmas tree. Already put it away! Also had fun playing speed b-ball with my siblings tonight, broke a little bit of a sweat there.
Tuesday - nothing, doh.
Wednesday - 2 miles and an 85 second hang
Thursday - 6 let downs
Friday - 2 miles in 19:30
Saturday - New Year's Eve

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Dec 19 - 24 (Daniel 3 months old)

Monday - Weight still 151. Did a 2 mile treadmill run this morning - 1 mile then had to rescue Daniel from his nap, he watched me do the second mile, wish I'd gotten a picture, he's such a sweetie!
Tuesday - 15 minutes of planks
Wednesday - 2 miles
Thursday - 80 second hang, 6 let downs
Friday - 2 miles
Saturday - nothing, doh. Happy Christmas Eve!

Monday - Weight 150.8 this morning. 2 miles in 19:00

Wednesday - 2 miles in 20 minutes at 7 this morning.
Thursday - BFL lower body with Hyrum - 120 walking lunges, 60 calf raises slow, 200 calf burners, 60 deadlifts. 75 second hang (I was dying after 20 seconds, mind over physical pain!)
Friday - 2 miles this morning, 13 min then 20 min break to nurse baby, finished off, total time 19 min
Saturday - shoveled snow for an hour

Dec 5 - 10

Monday - Took Corey to the airport at 4 am, he'll be in Chile for a week then flying over to Brazil for another week. I did 2 miles after I got back home, 22 minutes, finished at 6 am. Weight this morning 151.2, Hyrum and I both lost 2 pounds :)
Tuesday - 15 minutes of planks. My wheels were pretty pathetic tho
Wednesday - 2 miles this morning with 6 sprints

Nov 28 - Dec 3 (Daniel 10 weeks old)

Monday - 2 miles in 19:50 this morning, finished at 9:00 am. 154.4 at my weigh in. Hyrum lost almost 2 pounds, I gained 1 since my last weigh in. I didn't mind gaining, hoping it will help Hyrum have perspective that it is a slow process but as we are steady we will win the race
Tuesday - 15 minutes of planks with Abi, my wheels were only about 30 seconds each. Also later tonight did a little bit of upper body with Hyrum - 6 slow let downs on the pull up bar, and 30 reverse push ups, and three 30 second dead hangs on the pull up bar.
Wednesday - 2 miles this morning in 19:50, weight 151.6! Oh yeah, haven't been here since after Natalie/before Owen was born.
Thursday - 6 let downs, then did hangs for 30 seconds two times and last time I was able to do it for a minute!
Friday - 2 miles this morning
Saturday - 7 let downs, first hang was 17 seconds, second 31, last 61

Nov 21 - 26 (Daniel 9 weeks old)

Monday - 2 miles around 6pm, time 19:30. Ate perfectly today "Eat to Live" way (plant based) and have for past 3 days, Hyrum is my new accountability partner - Hyrum is doing a little BFL with me, today was day 1. We did this last year for a little while, he's gained 10 lbs the past year and approached me last week asking if we can try again. We can do it!
Tuesday - Hyrum did planks with me around 4 today. I did 15 minutes, he did 12 minutes and took a rest while I tried to do the wheel. Ate perfectly Marilu style, good job.
Wednesday - 2 miles
Thursday - HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Didn't over eat today but did enjoy some of all the holiday dishes with my family. :)
Friday - 2 miles
Saturday - Hyrum and I are going to focus on pull ups (cause all the BFL exercises just seem too long and boring right now.) So since I can't do a pull up, I did a slow let down 6 times. Then 17 reverse push ups, finally we both tried to just hang on the pull up bar to work on our grip - 30 seconds 3 times.

Nov 14 - 19 (Daniel 8 weeks old)

Monday - 2 miles in 22:30
Tuesday - 15 minutes of planks, did rotation of the usual center, left and right side and yoga table, and added a wheel too. Couldn't hold it super long, but it was a good stretch. I stretched afterward while I read, enjoyed it.
Wednesday - 2 mile jog in 22 minutes. Did it at 6:30 this morning, wanted to get it in before a maid came at 7:30. Haven't been focused at all this past week, reset today. Weight 155.4
Thursday - 15 min of planks like on Tues, held wheel for 50 sec twice, last round was just 20 seconds
Friday - 2 miles in 21 min, weight after 153.6, yay another pound gone
Saturday -

Nov 7 - 12 (Daniel 7 weeks old)

Monday - The Almond Joys got the better of me today. Not a full on binge but I have lost control, I shall go get my focus and start fresh tomorrow. But since I did eat some treats, I felt the urgency to get in a workout. 5:30 pm, just finished a jog on the treadmill, 2 miles in 22 minutes.
Tuesday - no workout, my neck has been killing me, can hardly turn my head. I think I'm sleeping on it wrong. Wish I had a purple mattress. Ate some candy today too
Wednesday - 2 minutes of center plank
Thursday - Woke up at 2 am feeling really dizzy, my head has been dizzy all day - a little bit like I just got off a tire swing and am waiting for the spinning to stop. Kinda weird. I haven't tipped over but have been holding on to the railings and walls when I walk around. Threw up this morning too. no workout
Friday - no workout
Saturday - no workout. It was an off week, I'll do better next week!

Thursday, November 3, 2016

Oct 31 - Nov 5 (Daniel 6 weeks old)

Monday - no workout, but I'm proud to say I make it through Halloween unscathed - I did not have one lick, taste or bite of any candy or treats. Today is day 2 of the 21 day challenge. :) I'm focused and in the zone, and just in time too! Weight this morning 157.8, yay! Got below 158, good job
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks around noon, 2 miles on the treadmill at 4pm - 22 minutes. Ate perfect today, had dessert for dinner - a sweet potato with 1 date and 7 pecans, so yummy. After run, weight was 157.2
Wednesday - No workout, but did have another day of perfect eating and not a lick or bite of any chocolate. Although Almond Joy's did enter my mind briefly today. I did do a lot of stairs and I moved furniture around - made a "man cave" for Corey where he can work at home, and I have a new set up too. :)
Thursday - Weight this morning was 156.6, that's a new low. No workout today, but like I said before, don't feel the same urgency to do it when I'm eating so clean. Although, truth be told, I did have one almond joy today, but I chewed it up and spit it in the garbage. Is that pathetic or admirable? My goal is to be thin and flexible. I've always thought I needed exercising to get the thin part. Eating clean works even better. I think I should start doing yoga or something though, my shoulders feel so tight, I need to schedule time to relax and breath!
Friday - New weight low this morning - 155.6, yahoo! No workout. Ate clean except some feta cheese and dressing for my salad on date night. :)
Saturday - raked leaves and mowed the lawn. Treadmill for 2 miles, first mile in 10 min, then walked a bit for the 2nd mile, total time 23:30

Thursday, October 27, 2016

Oct 24 - 29 (Daniel 5 weeks old)

Monday - Upper body today - biceps: curls - 30 reps with 2/12 lbs, 30 with 2/15, triceps: 30 chair dips, 30 extensions with 1/30 lb, shoulders: 30 side raises with 2/10 lbs, upward press with 2/15 lbs. back: reverse push ups 60 reps. chest: push ups - 20 on toes, 40 on knees. My weight this morning was 160.2. Not what I was hoping, but I guess that is why Whole 30 tells you not to weigh yourself, cause then you let the number put you in a good or bad mood (it put me in a bad mood), so I'm going to try to force that out of my head and instead trust that as I keep following this nutritarian lifestyle the weight will come off even if it didn't this week. (...Although I've probably been eating too many dates and pecans...)
Tuesday - treadmill in the morning while Daniel was sleeping - .5 then check on him, .5 again and check on him. .1 and he woke up, nursed for a few minutes, he went back to sleep and the treadmill reset, so not positive on my time, but I was able to finish it up my 2+ miles for the day.
Wednesday - At night did 6 laps around the block, 22 minutes.
Thursday - nothing. My mental discipline has waned a little - ate some skittles and graham crackers today. Wish I would just throw it away, instead feed it to the kids. I don't want to buy it anymore... darn halloween coming up....
Friday - 5 min of planks, phone call, one more minute, phone call, 3 minutes, then Owen came and sat on my head, and then I gave up. for a total of 9
Saturday - nothing. I entered this UC Davis challenge which sounds just like Dr. Fuhrman's eat to live (more info on it here). Thus, I'm beginning a Fuhrman fast today for 21 days (per the challenge) I will make it through Halloween un-contaminated!!!

Oct 17 - 22 (Daniel 4 weeks old)

Monday - 159.4 today, woot! Glad to break 160! Eat to live is going AWESOME. So that's four pounds eliminated this past week, 9 pounds gone in the past 3 weeks. 18 lbs if you count the day after delivery. 2 mile jog/run on the treadmill after Wesley got home from school today - finished in 19:22. I think I'll finish my runs as is this week and then next week will put the treadmill on the first incline.
Tuesday - I was going to do upper body today, started with 6 eccentric reverse push ups, then the baby called and I never finished. At 10 pm I did 10 min of planks in my closet, first 8 min normal, the 1 min center and last min 30 sec of each hand
Wednesday - nothing. Feeling sad/frustrated with myself/life today, can't do anything
Thursday - sad again most of today, finally got to exercise at 6 pm and took a bath (with baby and toddler, but better than nothing). Felt a little recharged after that. Did 2 miles in 18:59, Sam's Town album helped me go fast, I was blasting it loud.
Friday - nothing
Saturday - held center plank as long as I could - which probably could have been longer if Owen hadn't been crawling on my head as I planked on the floor. Got 2:28. Then did 30 seconds up on each hand for side planks. Busy weekend, still eating really good. :)

Oct 10 - 15 (Daniel 3 weeks old)

Monday - Daniel is 3 weeks old and he's at his birth weight again, good job little guy. I'm officially beginning my 6 weeks of Eat to Live today. Weight this morning was 163.6. I'm going to start just weighing myself on Monday mornings again, like I did during the pregnancy. Ran 2 miles on the treadmill at 3:45 pm after the kids got home, a neighbor was holding Daniel for me :) I beat my last time and did it in 19:42!! 162.0 after workout, that's a new low, yay
Tuesday - 9 minutes of planks - 1 min center, 30 sec of side on each hand, 1 min table, 2 min center!, 1 min yoga, 1 min each side, 1 min table
Wednesday - 2 mile run at 3:45pm on Weslo treadmill no incline, 19:36 :)
Thursday - no exercise but eating is going awesome, and I don't feel the normal urgency to exercise to burn off calories when I'm eating so well
Friday - 2 miles this morning before the kids left to school (20 min break half way through to help Abi with spelling homework) 1st mile in 10 min, 2nd mile 11 minutes, good sprints
Saturday -

Oct 3 - 8 (Daniel 2 weeks old)

Monday - My angel Daniel is 2 weeks old today. Hooray for me, I exercised before 7 a.m. today! Did a 2 mile run on the treadmill, finished in 21:10, that's a new record :) did like 3 one minute sprints and a few 30 and 45 second ones when a minute felt like it would kill me.
Tuesday - Lower body - 12 minutes of planks in the regular circuit, then 3 circuits of 20 reps each of calf raises, squats, and Romanian deadlifts, all with two 30 lb dumbbells.
Wednesday - broke a sweat mowing the back lawn, then the day got away before I could get in a 2 mile run, so I did 100 push ups on my toes, had to take lots of pauses to get through all 100, took me 6:22 to finish
Thursday - 2 mile jog today on the treadmill at 3:45 - I was pushing hard and did 2 miles in 20 minutes! I spent most of the time at a 6 mile speed, but would walk briefly before and after a one minute sprint, which I did 4 times. Good workout!
Friday - nothing
Saturday - nothing
Sunday - almost finished reading Eat to Live, I'm starting my 6 weeks tomorrow

Sept 26 - Oct 2 (Daniel 1 week old)

Monday - 168.6 this morning. I was going to do my cardio when the kids got home from school, but ended up having to take the baby to the hospital instead. His bilirubin was 20 when he got tested today, up from 16 on Friday. So, here we are at the hospital. My angel is one week old, love him
Tuesday - Drove home at 3 am this morning to freshen up, weight was 166.6, I'm about ready to shout from the rooftops about Dr Fuhrman's book but shall try to keep my excitement on this blog here until people start asking me about what I'm doing, cause I think this is going to be pretty noticeable pretty quickly. ~ back at hospital at 4 am - Held a 2 minute center plank! Then 40 sec hand plank on each side.
10:30 - Baby's bilirubin is much better, down from 18 last night to 11 this morning. So we get to go home within an hour, yay! Going to get in some cardio today, maybe even an old bodyrock workout, as I'm ready and feel able to do more high impact stuff and push myself a little harder. :) (and get a little variety from my BFL workouts)
Weslo treadmill - 2 miles in 24:30
Wednesday - 164.4, awesome. 12 minutes of planks, did two minutes of the side planks on my hands for 30 seconds each, plus two minutes straight of center plank again in that set
Thursday - cardio at 6 pm, 2 miles in 23:45
Friday - no exercise, weight 163.0
Saturday -

Sept 19 - 25 (Daniel Born)

Monday - 39 weeks today, scheduled to be induced. Woke up shortly after 3 and couldn't fall back asleep. Finally got up at 3:45, got dressed and headed downstairs for some cardio on the treadmill from 4am - 4:50, 3 miles. Walked .25 mile (usually at a 3.3) speed, then jogged .25 at 4.5 speed for the whole 3 miles. Finished at 46:37. I did the last jog at 5.2, feeling good, hoping to head to the hospital in 2 hours! Weight after workout - 180.2
Tuesday - 7 minutes of planks - 1 min center, 30 sec each side on hand, 1 min yoga table, 1 min center, 30 sec each hand, 1 min table, 1 min center. Spent the day at hospital, the pediatrician wouldn't let the baby leave yet.
Wednesday - Baby got the ok to be discharged at 8 am, we were home at 9 am, yay! 3:20 - finished lower body for yesterday - calf raises, deadlifts with 20#, 25#, 30# for the rest, then squats with same weight, last 12 was walking lunges. Did 5 minutes of planks to finish off planks for yesterday. Then from 4-5 I did 3 miles. The Weslo treadmill is harder than the Norditrack. I did .75 miles in 9 min on the Norditrack, but the tread kept slipping when I jogged, so I switched to the Weslo and I could hardly run at all on that one. I probably gave it too much of an incline, but I can't change that without getting off and lifting it up and manually doing it so I just kept going. Took me 16 minutes to do 1 mile on that one and I was sweating big time. Finished off the rest of my 3 miles (had 1.25 left) on the Norditrack, 1.25 took me 16 minutes, so a total of 41 minutes to go 3 miles. I was able to jog for over half of it, much nicer to jog sans baby in the tummy! Took a "before" picture after my cardio - 175.8 lbs. but the internet keeps cutting out - there's a storm rolling in. I'll upload it later.
Thursday - Weight this morning 177.4. No workout. The older kids are busy on Thursdays after school, need to figure out when to get my workout in (cause I need their help!)
Friday - Weight 176.4. I doubled up to make up for yesterday - cranked through an upper body workout. For all of these I took a few breaks and shook out my muscles when they were maxed out. First - Chest - 60 push ups all on my toes! Back - 48 Reverse push ups, 12 mows alternated with 30 lbs. each arm. Triceps - 48 seated extensions with one 30 lb, 12 chair dips. Biceps - 48 standing curls with two 15 lbs, 12 hammer curls w/15 lbs. Shoulders - 48 seated press with two 15 lbs, 12 upward rows with two 15 lbs. Followed up the upper body with 20 minutes on the treadmill - did 1.5 miles in 20 min.
Saturday - 172.4! No workout, but ate like a champ again today. I started reading "Eat to Live" in the hospital and the scales have come off my eyes. Eating a ton of raw veggies and feeling really good.
Sunday - 170.2 :)

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Sept 12 - 17 (38 weeks!!)

38 weeks - long as rhubarb
Monday - 38 weeks today! Hallelujah, we're almost there. Woke up at 4, laid in bed until 5, got ready, did 3 miles in 45 minutes, jogged some of the time, felt like I was having contractions 40% of the time, finished shortly after 6. Weight 181.0. Had my last doctor appointment at 9:15 (I haven't been in for six weeks, since Aug 1st) only a gain of 4 over the past 6 weeks. Scheduled to be induced next Monday, yay!!!
Tuesday - Owen woke up at 5, hence I didn't get my workout in during the morning, I'm not going to worry about getting it in later. I'm going to begin focusing on diet, Started reading "The End of Dieting" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, he was on pbs last week. I bought lots of veggies yesterday at Costco. :) Trying to get mentally ready to start shedding the baby pounds.
Wednesday - 2 mile walk on treadmill in 36 minutes (6am - 6:40)
Thursday - nothing, I'm taking advantage of sleep this week
Friday - 12 minutes of planks at 11 am
Saturday - no workout, did a lot of cleaning though and washed Corey's car, less than 48 hours to go (hopefully!)

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Sept 5 - 10 (37 weeks)

37 weeks - long as swiss chard

Monday - 37 weeks today. Happy Labor day, I wish I was in labor. Did 12 minutes of planks early this morning. Tonight finished off lower body with 60 reps of calf raises with two 30 lb dumbbells, 60 reps of deadlifts also with two 30 lbs.
Tuesday - 3 miles on the treadmill and finished up Lower body. Did 1.5 miles in 23:43, then went to wake up kids and did my quads as I made sure they got out of bed: static two stair climbs for 36 reps, then alternated 48 times up the stairs to finish off 24 reps for each leg. Then finished another 1.5 miles - total time: 45:45. The only bad thing about not being able to go fast is after 35 minutes I'm thinking I could have been done if I'd jogged. I did do a 12 minute pace (5mph) a little bit during it, but feeling pretty tight in my tummy, been having some contractions now and then.
Wednesday - got up early and finished upper body at 6:45.
bicep side curls - BFL 12, 12, 15, 20, 15, 15
back - reverse pull ups 60 reps
triceps - lying extensions with 2/15 lbs, 60 reps
chest - 60 push ups, progressively from knees fast to toes slow
shoulders - side and front raises with 2/8 lbs, 60 reps
Thursday - Owen woke up at 4 and was on and off again in his alertness. Needless to say it messed up my morning workout. aka it didn't happen. I tried to walk on the treadmill during the day when they were all awake. Had two minor interruptions plus had to change 2 poopy diapers in the first half mile. Next .75 were event free. Last .25 were near impossible and that's when I gave up on cardio. So 1.5 miles, then I thought I'd do some lower body instead. Was trying to do calf raises, Owen came over, lost his balance, hit his eye on the 25 pound weight, and that's when I officially gave up on all of it. Corey's flight arrives today at 2:15, yay! I'm feeling today like how I probably should have felt everyday he was gone, glad it wasn't like this every day.
Friday - I didn't workout today!!! I didn't get it done in the morning, tried when Owen went down for a nap, but after I got dressed he woke up so, remembering how it went yesterday with him tagging along, I gave up. It's the first time I haven't done anything since June 7th at 24 weeks. Not bad for a pregnant lady. Weighed myself tonight - 186. Looks like the cake from two birthdays this past week caught up with me.
Saturday -  I don't feel like working out anymore. Weight this morning 184.0. I'm feeling super pregnant, am having little contractions all the day, find myself wincing, looks like my pregnancy as superwoman "I even go jogging" is over. I did do 5 minutes of planks - 1 minute center, 30 secs on each side with a hand plank, then 1 min center again, side hand planks again, and one more center plank. So just 5 minutes, but it was something, and something is better than nothing. I'll try to do a little something every day next week and then on the 19th hopefully I'll be off to the hospital! One more week!!!!!!

Aug 29 - Sep 3 (36 weeks)

36 weeks - canary melon
Monday - 36 weeks today, Officially full term! Almost done with this pregnancy, I can make it. Corey left for Brazil today, he'll be back the 8th. Tried to jog this morning but tummy was super tight, so I listened to my body and walked more. Did one mile in 14 min, then had to take kids to band. After I got home I decided to do upperbody for today instead of cardio, will try to do jog again tomorrow. Upperbody workout was this:
Weight after workout was 178.4. With Owen at 36 weeks weight was 183.6
Tuesday - Had a great morning. Treadmill cardio from 5:30 - 6:15, did 3 miles in 35:48. Did a 4 minute warm up, then kept it at 5.5 - 6 mph pace most of the time (10 to 11 minute mile). Did a 7 mph pace for 1 minute two times near the end, feeling good today! weight was 176.4
Wednesday - Did 12 minutes of planks at 6 am, then a bit of stretching. 9:30 pm did circuit of squats, deadlifts, then calf raises, all with 30 lb dumbbells, 22 reps, 14 reps, then 24 for total of 60 reps each.
Thursday - 3 miles in 38:45. The treadmill kept slipping again, when it slips it feels like trying to run and stepping on a piece of paper on a wood floor. Not good, I don't want to fall. So the first mile and a half were mostly walking, then I decided to just hold on to one of the hand rails and jog and was able to finish the last mile and a half at over a 10 min pace/6 mph. So I was glad I was able to keep it under 40 minutes. Got nice and sweaty
Friday - Upper body:
Saturday - 3 miles in 42:06

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

Aug 22 - 27 (35 weeks)

35 weeks - honeydew
Monday - 35 weeks today. When I was 35 weeks pregnant with Owen, that was the week we came home from Brazil. I hadn't weighed myself the whole time we were gone. When we got home I did and I was 186. Today I was 178, so that is encouraging to me that I'm doing better than last time. This morning I did 3 miles on the treadmill. I went so fast last time, I made a mental note to try and beat my time every time but after 1.5 miles I realized I wasn't on pace to do it. This time I was doing 2 minute walk (3 mph=20 min pace) 2 minutes at 4 miles per hour, 2 min at 5 mph, 2 min at 6mph, then back to a walk. I did want to atleast get below 40 minutes, so I had to push it the last mile, esp the last 10 minutes, even jogged a 7 min pace the last 90 seconds! Go me. Barely finished in time:
Then I walked for a "lap" and ended up with 3.25 miles in 45 minutes.
Tuesday - Lower body - 12 minutes of planks at 5:30 am, rest of lower body around 11 o'clock:
Wednesday - I was up and jogging at 5:30 am. Took a break after 20 minutes/1.67 miles to say bye to the high school duo, then finished up my 3 miles for a time total of 34:39! Not bad for 35 weeks pregnant. Jogged most of the time at 5 or 6 mph, a little while at 7 mph too. Think I can keep this up for 3 more weeks?
Thursday - Usual BFL style upper body, done at 7:10 am, go me
  • Back - reverse push ups
  • Shoulders - usual upward press - weights 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, then 15 upward rows
  • Triceps - one dumbbell - 20, 25, 25, 30, 25, chair dips 12 reps
  • Biceps - the usual BFL curls then 12 hammer curls with 15 lbs.
  • Chest - push ups
Friday - 7 am, just finished 3 miles, 35:21, did the last 10 minutes at 6mph, did 7 miles for 1 minute early on, but maybe I was dragging my feet after that, cause next few times I tried the tread kept slipping off the rollers. Gotta pick up my feet
Saturday - busy day, lots of interruptions. Nice to sleep in this morning. Now it's time for bed, but first I did calf raises at 8:45 pm, then up to do planks at 9:00, then read scriptures with the kids, now it's 10:10 and I'm going to do 60 deadlifts with two 30 lb dumbbells and then walk around the neighborhood and do 200 walking lunges. I shall return and report...
Deadlifts - done at 10:18
Lunges - finished and all done 10:36, goodnight!

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Aug 15 - 20 (34 weeks)

34 weeks - cantaloupe
Monday - 34 weeks today, 5 to go! That almost feels close. Got up early and did cardio, 3 miles on the Weslo treadmill. Did 3 minutes walk then 3 min jog, alternated until finished 3 miles, took 47:30
Tuesday - I was in a funk today, Owen was clingy, not looking forward to the school mornings, I already miss summer. Did upper body tonight at 10 pm, just a quick plow through - 60 reps each:
Wednesday - woke up at 5 to wake up Joseph and Mel for their first day of school. Tried to fall back asleep for a few minutes, but then figured I could get half of my cardio done... did one mile/15 minutes on the NordicTrak treadmill, then paused said goodbye to them, woke up Ethan and Hyrum, went outside to do 130 walking lunges (still needed to make those up for last Saturday) Then finished 2 more miles. Total time: 41:34!
I even did 6 minute pace a few times! Broke a good sweat, feeling good, maybe this school year won't suck after all if I use my time wisely. We gotta go to bed earlier though, I wasn't asleep until after midnight last night.
Thursday - Went to bed at 10:30 last night, woke up at 5:45, didn't have a ton of energy, maybe it was too much sleep than I'm used to? Did 12 min of planks at 6:30, then after they kids left for school I did lower body in the basement - calf raises BFL style, 60 deadlifts with 2/30 lbs, then 60 sumo squats with 2/30 lb dumbbells.
Friday - 3 miles in 38:56, I was surprised that I finished it in less than 40 min, I must have been going fast! I did 4 minutes at a walk (usually 3.4) then 6 min of a jog. Repeated until I was done at 7 am. pretty good
Saturday - repeat of 7/19/16 Tuesday workout

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Aug 8 - 13 (33 weeks)

33 weeks - pineapple
Monday - 33 weeks today. Was going to do my walk this morning but could get out of bed. Did 12 minutes of planks in the morning, lower body in the afternoon -
Tuesday - 3 mile walk outside 6:23 - 7:24. My varicose veins in my left calf hurt afterward, nooo. I've not been feeling pain so far this pregnancy - hips haven't been hurting or leg, so I was a little sad, hope it's a fluke. I kept my leg up most of the morning and rested in bed, feeling better now (2pm)
Wednesday - Upper body workout from 8:40 - 9:15 am
Chest - push ups: fast knees, slow knees, fast toes, slow toes, fast toes, chest press 2/25
Biceps - Hammer curls 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, static curls 15
Triceps - seated extensions 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, chair dips
Back - reverse pull ups for 12 and 10 reps, but the bar bent/broke, so finished with back flys 8lbs, 10, 12, 10, alternate mower pulls 30 lbs.
Shoulders - side raises:5, 8, 10, 12, 10, upward press 2/15
Thursday - 3 miles on the treadmill this morning, did it in 45 minutes. Walked for 6 minutes (3.3 pace) then jogged for 6 min at 4.3 pace, repeat 3 times. Then for the 4th time I did 6 minutes walking, then finished off the 3 miles with jogging at 4.4, but also did one min at 5.4 to try and get it over with, not bad self! It was nice to break a good sweat, haven't done that for a while. 179.2 weight.
Friday - Lower body. 5:20 pm,
Abs - 12 minutes of planks,
Calves - 60 calf raises, 2/25 lbs for first 30, 2/30 lbs for 30 more reps, then 100 pulses with 2/30
Deadlifts - 2/20 for first 22 reps, 2/25 for 8, 2/30 for 6 & 24
Will do lunges tomorrow...
Saturday - 10 am - treadmill cardio while my angel Wesley watched Owen. Walked 1/2 mile, then jogged 1/2, same for mile 2 (with a quick .10 jog during the walk and a little walk break during the jog) for mile 3, I walked .05 mile, then jogged .05 repeated 10 times. I was dripping sweat.
That is lovely me in all my 8 months and exercising glory. Took me 49 minutes to go 3 miles. Weight 178.0 after exercise

Aug 1 - 6 (32 weeks)

32 weeks - napa cabbage
Monday - Officially 8 months today. Weight this morning 177.4.  AND it's also August, which means I am due "next month!" that is nice to say. Sounds better than "September" cause September still feels forever away, but maybe just maybe I'll make it. We are up in Park City this week, I came down this morning for a dr. appointment, gained 2 pounds, nothing else to report there. Got up at 5:30 and did a 3 mile walk on the treadmill in the Marriott's gym while I read 3 conference talks. I'd listen to music by my earphones aren't working. Like I connect them and my phone says they're connected but no sound comes out. Sad. So did 3 miles in 53 minutes, pretty good.
Tuesday - Upper body workout - nice to use the gym here. I didn't have my phone or a paper with me to write down what I did, but here is what it is to the best of my memory:
Back (stationary lat pull) - 55, 70, 85, 100, 85, 85
Chest (press) - 55. 70, 85, 100, 85, 85
Quad (leg curls, making up from Saturday) - 60 reps of 55 lbs
Triceps 35, 45, 50, 55, 50, 50
Biceps 30, 40, 45, 50, 45, hammer curls 2/15 lbs
Shoulder (upwards row) 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, shoulder press 15
Wednesday - 3 miles. Did one mile and accidentally touched "finish workout" with my knuckle as I got my phone, it wouldn't let me continue, so took a pic
Did another mile and then hit pause to grab a towel, was gone for 5 seconds and some guy got on the treadmill. I didn't make a stink, but went to the treadmill to get my phone and then went outside for a 20 minute walk up and down Empire street. Took a pic of the house where my grandpa used to live.
Thursday - Lower body
Friday - 3 mile treadmill walk
Saturday - Upper body, tried to do the same as Tues, but must not have remembered the correct weight I did for some of those, cause that chest workout would have been way too heavy. Today I enjoyed my last morning at the gym at 6:30, I did:
Back - fixed pull down (lat pull) that was the same as Tuesday: 55, 70, 85, 100, 85, 85
Chest (press) - 40, 55. 70, 85, 70, 55 - that was really heavy and hard, no way I did 100 on Tues.
Triceps 35 (really easy), 45, 50, 55, 50, 50. The tricep machine is awkward to use/hold
Shoulder (upwards row) 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, shoulder press 15
Biceps curl machine: 30, 40, 50, 55, then 24 reps of 50
done at 7:15

July 25 - 30 (31 weeks)

31 weeks - long as a leek
Monday - 31 weeks today. 172.4, that's what I was at 25 weeks last month, so good job me, I guess I'm maintaining. 3 mile walk this morning. Actually, 2 mile walk, then emergency bathroom stop at home, (had one of those last week too, I might need to make a shorter route closer to home that I can do laps on, but going around the block 12 times just sounds painful...) then another mile/20 minutes to finish it up.
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks this morning at 8:30 am, then had a busy day, did lower body at 6:30 pm - 60 calf raises with 30 lb dumbbells, 60 deadlifts with 30 lbs, then 60 sumo squats with 30 lbs.
Wednesday - 3 mile walk from 6:20 - 7:20, jogged for 5 minutes (as well as I can right now anyway)
Thursday - upper body, did first three exercises around 6pm, finished up with biceps and triceps at 11:30 pm.
Friday - 3 mile/1 hour walk, 6:15 to 7:15
Saturday - 20 deadlifts and then 20 calf raises, both with 30 lbs, repeated 3 times for 60 reps each, then 12 minutes of planks. Will do lunges or something for quads on Monday

Monday, July 18, 2016

July 18 - 23 (30 weeks)

30 weeks - large cabbage

Monday - 30 weeks today, yay, down to the last 9 weeks, hooray for single digits. Weight this morning 174.4. Seems like I've been pregnant for a very long time. I've been pregnant 97 months of my life so far, will be 99 when I'm done with this little man. That's a lot of months. Went on a 3 mile walk this morning, jogged for over 8 minutes.
Tuesday - Got up to do my lifting early, usually I sleep in a little too much on weight training days and don't get to it until later. So from 7 - 8 am, did BFL Upper body, here's a pic of what I did, easier than typing it up :)
Wednesday - 3 mile walk this morning from 6:10 - 7:10, and remembered to stretch when I got home too
Thursday - Lower body: calf raises, went outside to do 300 walking lunges, deadlifts, then planks. My legs were shaky from the lunges and I could hardly hold the planks cause of my legs
Friday - morning walk to Bell Canyon trail head, 6:29 - 7:30
Saturday - Went to the temple this morning, so besides today I did my workouts this week each morning, pretty good. And it's good I do them early, cause the day slips by if I don't. 11:57 pm right now and I just finished up an upper body workout. Not totally BFL style, but that's cause I'm in a time crunch. Did 60 reps of each of the following:

  • triceps - 60 sitting press with one 25 lb dumbbell
  • biceps - 60 sitting curls with two 15 lb dumbbells
  • chest - 60 push ups on knees
  • back - 60 bending over pulls with two 25 lb dumbbells
  • shoulders - 60 side raises with two 8 lb dumbbells

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

July 11 - 16 (29 weeks)

29 weeks - large butternut squash
Monday - 29 weeks today. 174.8 - had my Dr appointment this morning, only gained 2 pounds, that's an improvement upon last months' 12 pound gain. Everything else looked good. Was a busy day, only did 12 minutes of planks. Will do lower body tomorrow
Tuesday - Got up with energy at 5:15 (we went to bed early last night!) (well, early for us = 11) Did BFL Lower body, but a little different cause it was in a circuit - so did 12 reps (w15 lb dumbbells) of deadlifts, calf raises, and static lunges, then did 10 reps all of those with 20 lbs, then 8 with 25, 6 with 30 (my forearms were burning from holding the weight) then 12 of those followed by 12 more deadlifts, 12 pulse calf raises, and 12 squats with weight. Then did a 3 mile walk from 6:05 - 7:05
Wednesday - Upper body after dinner tonight. I don't want to type it all up though, I'll snap a picture of it later...
Thursday - 3 mile morning walk 5:55 - 6:57
Friday - Had a hard time getting going today. 1:30 pm finally did BFL Lower body - 12 minutes of planks in circuit, then did deadlifts, calf raises, and will do walking lunges tomorrow on my walk.
Saturday - went on a walk at 6:40, 250 walking lunges at 6:50 for 15 minutes, home at 8:00.

July 4 - 9 (28 weeks)

28 weeks - kabocha squash
Monday - Happy Fourth of July! 28 weeks today, baby is about 2.5 pounds. Weight 174.6. (was 157.4 with Hyrum in 2003, oh the good ol' days...) I have 11 weeks to go. Had the holiday Fun Run this morning, I pushed Owen and Natalie in the stroller, they weren't too heavy, but I generally don't like to push a stroller for a workout, thus it didn't count. I could have done the whole thing if I didn't have Lily and Sophi walking with me. We were dead last, until we took a short cut that cut about half of distance out :) Abi was a bit amazed that I had gotten ahead of her when she had been running the whole time! I did break a major sweat when I walked home with them at 10:30, it was a hot day! Tonight I did a BFL upper body workout (was supposed to be on Sat, but we were gone at Scofield). The numbers below are the weight. Reps for each are 12, 10, 8, 6, 12, then 12 of a different exercise for same group of muscles.
  • 1) Shoulders standing press with two dumbbells: 8, 10, 15, 20, 15, upward rows 15
  • 2) Chest - push ups fast on knees, slow on knees, 8 fast on toes, 6 slow on toes, 12 fast, chest press with two 20 lb.
  • 3) Tricep extensions, one dumbbell: 20, 25, 30, 30 slow, 30, chair dips
  • 4) Bicep curls - two dumbbells: 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, hammer curls 15
  • 5) Back - mower rows with one dumbbell alternate each arm: 20, 25, 30, 40, 30, back flys with two 8 lb.
Tuesday - 3 mile/1 hour walk from 6:02 - 7:04.
Wednesday - BFL Lower body - first did 12 minutes of planks, then calf raises, then deadlifts. Will finish it up by doing 200 walking lunges tomorrow on my morning walk.
Thursday - 3 mile walk, took a small loop around the school parking lot near the beginning of it for my 200 lunges. It's a small parking lot to do lunges around so I didn't get much of a break to shake it out after each 50. Probably gonna feel it tomorrow.
Friday - BFL upper body. I might need to get a gym membership to give me some variety on my exercises. Or we need to get a little more equipment. Today I did:
  • 1) Triceps laying (lying?) extensions, two dumbbells: 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, 15 chair dips, knees way bent. Chair dips totally kill me!
  • 2) Chest - laying chest press on bed (wasn't able to go very deep with my arms on the bed, need a bench...) two dumbbells: 12, 15, 20, 30, 25, push ups - 11 on toes, one on knees.
  • 3) Shoulders - side raises. nice and slow with two dumbbells of these pounds: 5, 8, 10, 12, 10, then 12 standing upward press with two 15 lb dumbbells
  • 4) Back - reverse push ups on a bar I had. No weight, my legs gave out before my arms (sore from yesterday!) final 12 reps were mower rows with 30 lb dumbbell for each arm.
  • 5) Bicep curls, two dumbbells of: 10, 12, 15, 20, 15, hammer curls 15
Natalie and Abi exercised with me :) Natalie looks like she's doing a good concentration curl in this picture, funny! Cute kids.

27 weeks - head of cauliflower
Monday - 27 weeks today. Weight this morning 171.8. Went on a one hour / 3 mile walk at 5:50 this morning. Usually by this time of pregnancy I've got achy hips, but they haven't been hurting at all yet, that is nice.
Tuesday - Body for Life Upper body workout. 10 am
  • Chest - push ups. Same as last Wednesday, but I did my 6 high point push ups all on my toes!
  • Triceps - chair dips, did my 6 with straight legs :)

June 20 - 25 (26 weeks)

26 weeks - zucchini

Monday - 26 weeks, weight this morning 173.2. I'm Day 2 of eating Marilu style. I really like it. Still sore from Saturday night's upper body workout. Body for Life Lower body workout today/tonight at 10:30 pm - Hamstrings (romanian deadlifts) Quads (wall squats) Calves (calf raises) and Abs - did 12 minute of planks. Broke a good sweat.
Tuesday - 3 mile walk this morning, jogged a little bit too. Day 3 Marilu - love having a pink lady apple and peach for breakfast! The rest of the day went well with diet too, and I got out my scale again, weight went down slightly, most importantly I feel in control and don't feel like a ravenous wolf in the kitchen. I'm hoping I'll not have a gain or maybe even a slight loss of a pound at my next doctor appointment.
Wednesday - Day 4 Marilu, loving it. No need to count days though, cause this isn't just a 30 day reset like Whole30, this is an easy to live by food combining lifestyle. It was a long day though, and I'm going to have a long day tomorrow too ~ it's Lily's birthday, and we're having a friend party for her from 1 - 3 and then doing Wesley's (who's birthday is on Saturday) from 4 - 7. Hope I don't die. Hoping to start the day off right with a morning walk. Tonight I got in my Upper body workout - Body for Life style:
  • shoulder press - 8, 10, 15, 20, 15, upward rows 15
  • tricep chair dips, then 12 tricep extensions with one 25 lb.
  • bicep standing curls 8, 10, 15, 20, 15, hammer curls 15
  • push ups, then chest press 15 lbs
  • back rows 10, 15, 20, 25, 20, ended with 12 pathetic back flys 15# (more like really weak back pulses
Thursday - Happy birthday Lily. I went on a 3 mile walk this morning. Ate some birthday cake and a little bit of ice cream, but nothing too out of control. I love food combining! Marilu is going to work for me, it has in the past, it's really easy for me (esp compared to Whole30) and I can tell it's work just from the past week of doing it. Did I tell you my morning weight has been going down, back below 170 this morning, yahoo, we'll see if I can keep it there
Friday - was going to do BFL Lower body, but only did Abs (12 minutes of planks) going to finish it up tomorrow morning before my walk.
Saturday - Calf raises (15, 20, 25, 30, 25) and dead lifts with same weight amounts, then went on my walk, but paused to go down a few side streets doing walking lunges for the final Lower body exercise group. Then finished the walk with 50 more minutes. Had a great week with workout and diet!!!

Monday, June 13, 2016

Jun 13 - 18 (25 weeks)

25 weeks - acorn squash
Monday - 25 weeks today. Weight at home 172.8. Did 12 minutes of planks. Then had a doctor appointment this morning. I've gained 12 pounds the past 6 weeks, was 173 at home, not sure what I was according to their scale, I don't look (but I know it's atleast 5 pound over mine). But unfortunately 12 pounds sounds about right (doh!) After that I ate Whole30 today. Maybe I can stop the tide of weight gain. I usually gain a ton during the second trimester and then just 5 pounds during the last trimester. I'll try to be good and see if I can make that happen this time and keep it under 180.
Tuesday - 1 hour walk
Wednesday - 12 min of planks
Thursday - 1 hour walk - walked to a mountain trail, went up for 10 min hike then 10 min down and back home.
Friday - My calves are a little sore from the brief hike yesterday. Took another one hour walk this morning.
Saturday - Scripture study today was on Self Mastery. Last night I got out my old 2002 journal, of when I was on the ball with diet and started to exercise regularly and lost weight after Ethan was born. I was in the 140s when he was 4 months old! Man, I haven't been there since Sophi - didn't get there after Natalie or Owen. Come on, self. So, I ate Marilu style today. I already know it worked for me, I kept my weight in the window of 124-127 during that whole time. And kept that diet during my pregnancy with Hyrum which was my best one too - I was 144 when Hyrum was 6 weeks. So, yeah, ate Marilu style today and have felt great, not hungry or munchy with cravings, maybe I can do something positive with my weight and health these next 14 weeks before Junior comes. Tonight I lifted weights for the first time in a long time, did a Body for Life Upper body workout:
SHOULDERS - Upward Rows - 12 reps w/2 8lb dumbells, 10 reps w/10 lbs, 8 reps w/15 lbs, 6 reps 20 lbs, 12 reps w/15 lbs, shoulder press 12 reps @ 15 lbs.
BACK - rows - dumbells, 12 reps @10 lbs, 10 reps @ 15 lbs, 8 reps @20 lbs, 6 reps @ 25 lbs, 12 reps @20 lbs, back flys 12 reps @8 lbs
TRICEPS - seated press with dumbbells - 12 reps @8 lbs, 10 reps w/one 20 lb dumbbell, 8 reps with a 25 lb, 6 reps w/30 lb, 12 reps w/25, chair dips 12 reps.
CHEST - pushups, 12 on knees, 10 on knees slower, tried to do 8 on toes but only managed 5, then 3 on knees, 6 on toes, 12 on knees, chest fly 12 reps with two 15 lb dumbbells
BICEPS - standing curls with dumbbells - 12 reps w/8lbs, 10 reps 10 lbs, 8 reps 15 lbs, 6 reps 20 lbs, 12 reps 15 lbs, hammer curls 12 reps w/15 lbs.
...and ended with three 1 minute center planks. Good news: I exercised every day this week, good job! Bad news: I pretty much ate a half gallon of rocky road ice cream all by myself in 48 hours. Finished it off last night for "dinner" and then started my reading of my 2002 journal. I want to be better, I can do better and do more to be healthy.

May 30 - Jun 4 (23 weeks)

23 weeks - Eggplant
Monday - 23 weeks today. Got up at 5:30 for a 3 mile walk, great way to start the day!!! Weight after exercise was 165.8. I just read my 23 week blog post from Owen's pregnancy, (had to look it up for the eggplant picture) and funny thing I read there: I mentioned how someone in Brazil said I looked big for 6 months, and I didn't take offense but said you can't say stuff like that in the US. Well, on Saturday I was grabbing a few things from the grocery store (Walmart) and the cashier was cute and friendly and as she scanned all the milk and bags of cereal and diapers, she asked "So, how many children do you have?" I did tell the truth "I have ten..." "And another one on the way?!?!" She was cute, I showed her one of the recent family pictures, etc, she was nice. When we were almost done, she asked "When are you due?" "September." "You're BIG!!" So that's funny that I did get told that here in the US, ha. And at about the same time! I just said "I know..." I really do feel like I already look full term again. Oh well. Trying to have the desire to eat more healthy, not feeling it so far. Mel made some sinful desserts tonight - Sweet and Saltines. Already want to make them again, thus am telling myself we can never ever make them again. One of those love/hate treats, wow.
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks
Wednesday - 3 mile morning walk, love it! The birds, seeing the flowers, I picked some honey suckle flowers and other fragrant white flowers, have had them around the house to smell. Good morning.
Thursday - nothing
Friday - 3 mile walk
Saturday - 12 minutes of planks

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Tuesday - nothing, not in the zone. More moving stuff though - bulk clean up got me in the zone for clearing out junk and now we're rearranging a bit and trying to get the basement organized
Wednesday - nothing. Feeling the baby move a lot which is always a bit magical.
Thursday - 12 minutes of planks
Friday - first day of summer vacation for one of my kids (Mel) so I thought I'd start summer off right and I did! I woke up early and left at 5:30 for an hour long 3 mile walk, listened to conference and enjoyed seeing the sunrise. Looking forward to more summer mornings!

Apr 18 - 23 (17 weeks)

17 weeks - pear
Monday - 17 weeks pregnant, 12 minutes of planks. I guess I'm not officially doing the Whole30 program right now, cause I have to start over again after my pb & honey last week. I think the pregnancy makes me a little uncommitted with doing it a whole consecutive 30 days, but I'm going to eat Whole30 for most of my meals. Did today except for a bread with pb.
Tuesday - 2 mile walk at night (6 times around the block) plus earlier in the afternoon I did 100 shoulder side raises with two 5 lb weights.
Wednesday - 1 mile walk to the elementary school in the morning so I could bring Owen over for Abi's show and tell. Another walk there in the afternoon to pick up Wes after scouts. 12 min of planks
Thursday - 1 mile walk to the school to watch Wes and Lily cross the busy street, Lily had to bring her bike today for the bike rodeo (turns out it's actually next Thursday.) Back to school after to pick them up. Also dug in the dirt in the backyard for an hour.
Friday - 12 minutes of planks
Saturday - mowed the lawn

Monday, April 11, 2016

Apr 11 - 16 (Whole30 Week 2)

Monday - 16 weeks pregnant. Whole30 Day 5. Feeling good. Eventhough I had to start over, my brain and body might think I'm further along in the program, cause last night I had a pig out on junk food dream that their timeline says will happen days 12-15. First I was hoarding cookies. When a teenage neighbor (Zeb, who came to Brazil with us) saw me he said I'd had enough, so then I turned away from him and started shoving them in my bra to eat later). Then another part of the dream I was fishing partially melted ice cream in chocolate covered waffle cones out of the trash can, that some ungrateful people tossed aside. Having a few cravings... and lunch time I kind of want a slice of bread with pb and honey but instead I'm had my lunch shake that I've started having everyday:
  • 1 c. almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 carrots cut up or handful of baby carrots
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 3/4 c. frozen blueberries
  • 6 ice cubes
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks
Wednesday - 2.5 mile walk, little bit of jog. Confession: I had a slice of bread w/pb and honey again. Seems like I can't make it past a week.
Thursday - no exercise. pb & honey, mood is fine, energy is same as it has been during this whole month.
Friday - 12 min of planks. date night India house, I had the peshwari naan.
Saturday - Woke up this morning with dry mouth, I wonder if that's a side effect of the sugar or the grains? Maybe I'll go Whole30 for a week again and then experiment again. My mood has still beek good though. 12 min of planks

Apr 4 - 9 (Whole30 Restart)

Monday - 15 weeks today, Day 8 of Whole30, ate perfect, no exercise tho
Tuesday - Have been feeling soo tired since Thursday, so today at lunchtime I gave up a little bit on Whole30, thinking that with pregnancy and Owen not sleeping through the night, my body just can't take a no bread lifestyle, so today I had a slice of bread with natural pb and honey. Felt much better and cleaned the house a lot without needing a nap. no exercise though
Wednesday - had pb and honey again and some grape nuts cereal with almond milk. So still haven't done dairy or cheese, but did have sugar via honey and have had grains. Good day though. And talked to one of my Whole30 accountability partners, she said not to worry about needing snacks, just keep it Whole30, so I think I'll start over again with Day 1 tomorrow (since program rules say I need to start over if I cheat). So, here were go again. Did go on a 2.5 mile walk today, jogged about half of it. I made some very yummy chicken lime soup for dinner tonight, mmm!
Thursday - Whole30 Day 1 (repeat) ate perfect, no exercise though. I'm embracing snacks as long as they are Whole30, also embracing naps and not feeling bad about it.
Friday - Day 2 repeat. Perfect day, did 12 minutes of planks. Kept diet Whole on our date night at Olive Garden
Saturday - Day 3 - Whole30 perfect. 12 minutes of planks

Mar 28 - Apr 2 (Whole30 Week 1)

Monday -  Mar 28 - Whole30 Day 1!
Weighed myself this morning: 154.8. 14 weeks pregnant today. Then said goodbye to the scale for 30 days, which I think will be a very good thing!
Breakfast 8am - 2 boiled eggs, sweet potato with coconut oil, sugar snap peas
Lunch 1:45 - grilled steak, 1/2 microwaved butternut squash with little bit of coconut oil, large banana, almonds
Dinner 5:30 - chicken and avocado salad with salsa, some zucchini with coconut oil.
8 pm - finished off the zucchini
It's snowing outside, was going to do planks but didn't get to it. Some good news though, I cleaned a lot, the laundry room desk is all cleared off, I actually painted with Abi tonight (something she requests very often that I don't have/make the time for) and almost played a board game with the kids. I'm hoping as we learn to reward ourselves with something other than sugary treats that we'll make more family memories together.

Tuesday - Mar 29 - Day 2
Breakfast 8 am - pink lady apple, 3 kiwi (trying Whole30 with a Marilu twist today)
Brunch 10 am - 2 boiled eggs, sugar snap peas, handful of almonds
Lunch 2 pm - chicken avocado from last night with big bowl of yellow squash w/coconut oil
Snack 4pm - Lara Bar and 14 almonds
Dinner 7:30 - Salmon and steamed broccoli and stir fry veggies

6:00 - 5 prunes, almonds, sweet potato with coconut oil and a boiled egg

Mar 21 - 26

Monday - 13 weeks. Got my Whole30 book on Saturday, and I was 100% today. 2 mile walk on treadmill in 36 min, 60 deadlifts with 30 lb dumbbells, 100 back flys with 3 lbs. The book has helped me to do better knowing why they say to do things, like eating just 3 meals a day, which goes against Body for Life and Kristi Approved and most other lifestyles I've tried in recent years. We'll see how it goes though, good stuff
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks (at 11:30 at night, but I did it! two days in a row, yay)
Wednesday - 2.5 mile walk outside. Cold but pretty. Listened to John Denver's "Annie's Song" most of the walk, love ~ "like the mountains in springtime...."
Thursday - 12 minutes of planks
Friday - stretched for 60 min as I read Whole30, prepping myself mentally to stay away from the chocolate treats at a family Easter Egg hunt tomorrow.
Saturday - Ate totally Whole30 perfect, didn't give into any treats, go me, I can do this, just have to have my mind focused, which will probalby be a daily task. My little sister Beka is starting Whole30 on Monday with me. 20 minutes of stretching

Tuesday - 1 mile walk/jog to school with Wes, 12 min of planks
Wednesday - nothing, bought easter candy for a neighborhood hunt next week, had to make 12 eggs for each kid. I ate more than I should of. I'm ready for this metal cottonmouth to be gone, I do not like it. Wish I got some relief from something else besides eating. Maybe I just need to chew and then spit out, cause I'm not hungry, but keep eating to just try to get this taste our of my mouth. Maybe I'll chew ice chips...
Thursday - 100 back flys with 5 lbs weights
Friday - nothing
Saturday - 12 minutes of planks

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Feb 1 - 6

Monday - nothing
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks in rotation
Wednesday - walked on the treadmill for 40 minutes, did 2 miles, walked for 15 minutes with 25 pounds in weight on my head in a box - trying to work my muscles to have good posture like people in Africa
I was thinking 25 pounds would be a lot, but looks like they carry more than that. It was a good workout, made me sweat just walking. Also made my arms burn as I held it to balance it on my head (most of the time with both hands) I thought I probably looked pretty silly. Just trying to change things up. After googling for that picture, I found this pinterest board. I think I'll look more into the "Alexander Technique" whatever that is.
Thursday - 12 minutes of planks
Friday - 2.5 miles on the treadmill as I listened to Imagine Dragons Smoke + Mirrors. Good cd. 45 minute walk and I did different arm motions with each song
Saturday - 12 minutes planks

Monday, January 25, 2016

Jan 25 - 30

Monday - Had a good 45 minute workout doing Cize: Full Out
Tuesday - 12 minutes of planks in 60 sec rotations
Wednesday - Owen is 6 months old! It was a busy day, got in 100 romanian deadlifts and that was all I could do before kids needed me.
Thursday - Cize: In the Pocket. I got the dance okay, was an okay workout (usually not as intense when you're learning the choreography) but the song was horrible at the end. Usually I can endure the boring rhythm as you learn the moves with hopes that the song at the end will make it worth it, but it was really lame, I don't even want to do this one again. I wrote down the moves and will try use them to a song I like.
Friday - nothing
Saturday - 12 minutes of planks

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

Jan 18 - 23

Monday - 2 mile walk along the beach, little bit of swimming, heading home tonight at 10 pm Hawaii time (1 am Utah time)
Tuesday - Did this circuit four times for 24 minutes =
  • 4 plank rotation
  • 1 minute jog
  • 1 minute sprint
Wednesday - nothing. Eating pretty good, no sweets (cause I have a new years commitment to not buy any junk this whole year, so if I don't buy the chocolate, that makes it pretty simple to not eat it)
Thursday - nothing - was going to get a workout after the kids were in bed, started to get them to bed at 8:30, but then we all got really into reading Mosiah 18 - half way into chapter 24 before we called it quits. Hyrum "This is intense!" Wes "Keep reading!" Abi "I dont' get what's going on..." and then we'd explain it all again in kid speak.
Friday - nothing
Saturday - planks: 2 min center, 1 min yoga, 1 min center 2 min yoga, sides on hand for as long as I could, got 38 seconds each
Sunday - played in the snow with the kids in the back yard today from 3-6, we made a pretty cool fort, and I shoveled a ton of snow, so maybe that counts for something even though I don't workout on the Sabbath Day, was glad to play with my kids.
