Dec 26 - 31

Monday - climbing at 6 am with Joseph and Wesley. Lots of climbs, I dried a V2 with jug holds and I think if I try that one first thing tomorrow I might be able to do it. Did 100 seconds of hollow and 100 second superman.

Tuesday - climbing with Joseph, Wes, and my nieces Jordyn and Rhyan. I still didn't do the hot pink V1,. so tricky! I did good and got further on the purple V2 but didn't send it, will try again tomorrow!

Wednesday - stretching and stuff at home

Thursday - Momentum at 6am by myself. Didn't send the V2 but am getting closer.

Friday - stretch at home

Saturday - Momentum at 1 with Corey and OP, I bouldered, Corey belayed the boys. I did a purple V1 that I hadn't done before, on east side of north boulder. The only V1 I still need to do is the hot pink one, but it's still impossible, I tried it like 10 times today, can't get both of my hands on the 3rd and 4th to last holds. So slippery. Cabin tonight

Dec 19 - 24

Monday - climbing at Momentum by myself, I did the purple V1 from Friday without touching anything but purple!!! Then I did a few that I've sent before and then after that I did the Orange V1!!! No one witnessed it but then I did it again with Corey and Joseph watching. Yayyyy I am very pleased

Tuesday - climbing with most of my boys - JEWODP It was fun. J and W had fun challenging each other.
E did mostly mom level ones like me, he hasn't been climbing for months, so his hands were done after a few climbs but he did great. He's got long arms like his father.
I did some of the V1s that I wasn't able to do yesterday (that I've done before but just couldn't send them yesterday after I was done after the orange V1) but I did OG sector orange, North boulder purple V1 and new purple, and south bolder Yellow and red and I got a little further on the hot pink V1! Cheering on Peter

Wednesday - busy day getting ready for presents. I was going to climb before carpool but wasn't able to. Went tonight with everyone and got a few good sends in

Thursday - climbing with Wes and Owen, we did a few belay ones, I did a purple 5.10a, not sure what that means, but I know it was a harder climb than the last one I did when I was belayed. I also got further on the hot pink - I'm going to try it fresh tomorrow and I bet I'll be able to do it. AND I did my first V2 today! The white one! Woot! I was just showing Wes how far I was able to get the other day, and then I was able to keep doing and did it! WOW

Friday - Day skiing at Alta, then Wes and I went climbing at 9pm, I did the hot pink V1 where you're hanging upside down and I did it NO PROBLEM! And I did it a total of 3 times! Flash each time, and I did another V2 (green on south boulder) AND I also did the purple V1 on the south boulder west side. It was a bit scary but I did it 2nd try. I didn't have my phone to log all of those, I accidentally left it home charging, so that's too bad I wasn't able to log it on Kaya, but I was so proud of myself! I DID THE HOT PINK V1! And I did the white V2 again, and the orange, and yeah, I've got all the V1s except for the stupid hot pink one with the slope holds on the south boulder. I don't know how I'm going to send that, but I trust that if I keep trying I eventually will.

Saturday - momentum closed for New Years Eve :( spent morning at home :) then went to Wrides for a gathering at 5pm 🥳

Dec 12 - 17

Monday - climbing at Momentum by myself, I did the white V1! (OG Sector) yahoo

Tuesday - shoveled and show-blowed a lot of snow this morning, then went climbing with Corey and Wes, I did the yellow V1 for the first time!! Wes did some V3s! Corey did his first V2, we were there for over an hour, good stuff

Wednesday - climbing with Lily after school. She did the yellow V1 too! We had a contest on the new pink V1 on the south boulder, she was ahead of me but then I tied her

Thursday - climbing with Wes in the morning. We learned that they have bags of chalk that you can borrow, yay. We tried the new pink V1 first, which might not have been the best idea cause then my forearms were done. Still couldn't do the orange V1, it's so awkward. I'll try that first thing next time. I got further on the purple V1 of the north boulder. Wes doing the hot pink V1. It is impossible.

Friday - I did the purple V1, but did touch briefly an orange with my foot, but I'm counting it. Also did 500 mountain climbers in my closet, and a few of these 8 exercises, as I am focusing on increasing my climbing game -
#1 - Hollow - held for 90 seconds, but my back bows and isn't on the floor well,
#2 - Superman 100 seconds - check
#3 - middle splits - mine are pathetic, like I'm at a right angle!
#4 - W sit - I can do it! had to do a hang with both hands but did that for 30 seconds with the help of wincing.
#5 - V Stand - didn't try, did try a L stand with yoga blocks for like 5 seconds
#6 - Static One Arm hang - can't do it at all, can do both hands for 30 seconds but it killed my palms
#7 - Pull up - can't, my palms are done.
#8 - Kong Vault - I wish

Saturday - Did hollow and superman and a 40 sec double hand hang. Corey took kids climbing but I had to run errands. It's ok though cause my palms might like the rest

Tuesday, December 6, 2022

Dec 5 - 10

Monday - bouldering after taking Lily, I ripped off one of my callouses. doh, kept a bandaid on it all day

Tuesday - bouldering with Lily before jazz band, I didn't do too much cause of my callous, but still did some carefully, finished a purple overhang with good jugs that I wasn't able to do Saturday. It was still good. Superglued my callous at home.

Wednesday - bouldering with Corey, he's got a really long reach, I'm short, but it's fun. Callouses are doing great.

Thursday - shoveled snow

Friday - bouldering with Wes, he's good! He did a few V2s, wow! I got higher on the yellow V1, almost made it, I was also able to do the two other purples that were too hard for me last week, and I was able to do them even though my arms were already tired. My palms did great today.

Also, I've experience a new level of freedom over the past two weeks - the real freedom of having a "naturally thin" brain. It has been thanks to life coaching taught to me by Laura Dixon, via her podcast and her program. My body isn't there yet, but it will be following soon enough. I'm excited to lose 5 more pounds, but my brain is totally at ease and proud of and ok with where I am right now! My brain is calm and I feel certain and it's really a new free feeling that I'm loving. I am pretty sure I'm going to lose 20 more pounds (unless the climbing make me put on a lot of muscle weight!) My baby Katharine is 6 months old, and I'm lower now that I was over 2.5 years after Peter was born. Actually, I barely got to 140 when we got family pictures taken in 2020, but then it went back up after the photos cause my brain wasn't there. I'm at that weight now and K is only 6 months old! I am loving it. Most of the mental freedom really kicked in/solidified over Thanksgiving (the "Thin Holidays" podcast was great!) and has been more and more constant since then. I have felt freedom from my food brain and from the pressure to exercise. Like, years ago I used to be sad if I was up at Park City and didn't get in a workout, but now I don't even think about it! I loved biking up there in the summer, obviously, but the pressure to exercise to lose weight is a think of the past. Now I exercise for fun and I enjoy doing things that are interesting (like bouldering) or that feel good (like stretching or handstands) and I'll do them but then move on with my day! I don't worry if I didn't sweat enough or lift enough, it's become a new paradigm and I feel free. Also I feel free from food. I have become ok with hunger, and I'm busy doing other things, and so unless my hunger cues come, I am just not thinking about food. Even this morning, I went into the kitchen to get the kids some breakfast, and part of me thought "let's eat" but I hadn't been thinking of eating at all upstairs before I came down, so I knew I wasn't really hungry yet, so I moved on - got them food, then went back to my projects.

I thought this was funny - my little sister sent it to me. I used to be and feel this way! (Searching for comfort in food)

Monday, November 28, 2022

Nov 28 - Dec 3

Monday - climbing this morning with Corey. I did the pink V1! And all the VB and V0s on the first boulder (south by windows). I was really proud that I did the pink problem! And I did it twice! Once on my own and I was able to do it again with Corey watching. There are more to try next time, but I'm really proud of how good I did! My fingers, palms, and muscles are getting stronger and tougher

Tuesday - shoveled the driveway

Wednesday - Lily and I woke up at 5:30 and were climbing at Momentum at 6:10. We both did the pink V1! I did it first attempt, and Lily got it too! Oh yeah, we're getting stronger. Did our warm up racing each other in Waltopia (the kid zone) then did other V0s and attempted and completes some V1s, but not all, attempted a few V2s. Then I went on a walk after I got home. Reached a new low - 141.4. I've lost 5 pounds this past week over Thanksgiving! ⁨💪

Thursday - At Momentum by myself this morning, I did the Red V1!! Took me two attempts but I did it!

I can feel my fingers are stronger, pretty fun. After I was done climbing and I was heading to leave, I walked past the pink V1, and tried it, and eventhough I was already wasted I was able to do it! oh yeah. My goal for next time is to get further on the yellow V1, which is the last V1 I need to do on the south boulder...

Or I want to get higher on the purple on this boulder (between the yellow and orange)

Friday - climbing at the Sandy Momentum after date night. :) Their boulder place isn't as good as Millcreek, but that's ok. It was fun.

Saturday - bouldering again, getting better each time, it's fun

Monday, November 21, 2022

Oct 31 - Nov 5

Monday - Halloween ride up the canyon! With Corey, 3:30 pm, there was a lot of snow but we kept going and made it all the way to the top! Probably our last ride in the canyon for this year. 11.23 miles, didn't do techy, 1492 elevation, 1 hour 38 minutes for time. I made it up the first hard hill after the first bridge without stopping or getting off! Also got a PR for 1st bridge to the top! 2.23 miles in 41:53, and PR from 2nd bridge to top 1.38 miles in 26:47

Tuesday - Should be snowing tomorrow, so I took one more ride in Corner Canyon by myself after Lily got home from school, and I blew all my past times! It was really easy compared to LCC, which I've done a lot the past few weeks.

I might even be willing to try Clarks again next year. The leaves were all so pretty on Ghost Falls. I'm sad it's over!! I did Rush the end twice, and I'm looking forward to next summer.

Wednesday - Snow snow everywhere. sigh.

Thursday - some stretching

Friday - handstands

Saturday - handstands, been looking at buying a program to help me learn to do the splits, or CorePlay

Wednesday, October 26, 2022

Tuesday - Bike ride up the canyon at 3:30 pm, went until the snow made me stop, 9.75 miles, 1301 elevation, 1 hour 27 minutes. Corey in Boston with Wesley this week.

Monday, October 17, 2022

Oct 17 - 22

Monday - ride with Corey, 11.17 miles, did technical, 1508 elevation gain. 1 hour 41 min, 14 achievements but that's not helpful to know cause I don't even know where most of those sections are. But I know the techy section, and I got a PR there today (have done that 4 times counting today) Beautiful ride! I took lots of pics

Tuesday - wheel

Wednesday - Ride up canyon by myself. I didn't get off my bike at all on the ride up. I did pause a few times to pick my line, I also paused a few times to re-adjust my wheel and rotate my pedals back, but I did great, proud that I did a few parts that I hadn't been able to do before. Also new low weight after my ride - 148.0, yay! Had a moment with the sun and the trees at Lisa Falls listening to the chorus on "The Way It's Always Been" - made me tear up and my heart full ~

The chorus starts at 2:45 but you really need to start at 2:25 to get the build up. I've always loved that song, esp that part! I also took Grist Mill on the way down, to see if that is doable. It's not quite, yet, for me, but maybe I could get there someday! Took pictures and gathered leaves, it is SO BEAUTIFUL

Thursday - wheel on yoga mat and some sitting stretches after snoring made me not able to sleep.

Friday - Up LCC with techy and Grit, 1555 elevation, 11.48 miles, 1 hour 50 min, 6 achievements, PR of quarry 2nd bridge to top, 2nd and 3rd PRs on few other things

Oct 10 - 15

Monday - stretching and handstand

Tuesday - Bike ride with Corey up the canyon this morning at 7:09 am, 11.17 miles, 1498 elevation, 1 hour 42 minutes. Had to walk a few of the sections still, but also got up some of them! Fun to have challenges along the ride, it's a lot of good work but I'm getting better. Drove to Las Vegas today

Wednesday - One handstand at hotel in Las Vegas. Spent most of day in car driving to California, first to Santa Clara, then to Newport

Thursday - active day

Friday - walking around Six Flags amusement park

Saturday - swimming in the water at Balboa Beach! Really fun to play in the waves, even though I got clobbered a few times! Got a few sand burns from being thrown down by the waves.

Monday, October 3, 2022

Oct 3 - 8

Monday - stretching and handstand

Tuesday - Bike ride with Corey up the canyon, I turned around near the Lisa Falls parking spot, 10.29 miles, stopped to stretch at the quarry, 1 hour 27 minutes. PR on "UP! Mile 2" of 17:04, and two 2nd place prs - quarry to mushroom land and coalpit area

Friday - Bike ride with Corey, 11.22 miles, 1484 elevation, 1 hour 43 min. PR on "fastest section alive" (5:35) and coalpit area (2:56). We did a new technical part up by Lisa Falls, which was fun even though I walked a lot of it this time. I think I'll be able to take a few spots next time. The fall color were gorgeous!

...especially once the sun hit the leaves!

I made it up the rocky area after the tree branch that goes over the path, my first time doing that going up! Got a back massage at massage Envy which was nice, my shoulders are super tight. Reached a new low with weight today after the ride. yay.

Got 6 PRs - Clarks to Potato Hill Climb 11:56, Half Ann 12:34, etc. I don't know what those sections are unless I click the link on Strava, but they've got it all mapped out and keep track of it for me. Good job me for getting 6 PRs.

Tuesday - stretching

Wednesday - stretching

Thursday - short ride to Quail Hollow. Only 4.72, 29:40. Coming up the hill was a good challenge, but other than that, it's too little time in the trees, most of it was neighborhoods and pavement.

So I got to go out there today, did the Coyote Trailhead, went up to Anns and across to Peakview and down Ghost Falls. Love it. Took me an hour, Got a few PR's - Clarks Intersect to Potato Hill - 12:02, Coyote Trailhead to Clarks Bridge in 1:59, Clarks Bridge to the top of Anns 34:37, Last 2 turns til the tunnel 4:05, Silica Pit and Rush .64 miles in 6:00. Wednesday - Ride at Corner Canyon. Was supposed to be with Joseph, but I got there before him by a few minutes and started up so he wouldn't have to wait for me, and then when he started up the trail his chain broke. So then he went back home and I finished the ride. Ann's and Ghost Falls. I looked up and noticed the beauty around me today (when my music lost connection and I could hear the brook and the wind. It brought me to the present moment. My thoughts at the end of this post. Look up!)

Thursday - active rest when I took the kids to the mall and to Costco.

Friday - started a ride up LCC with Corey, got up three miles and then my derailleur broke when I was switching gears, it caught in my spokes and got messed up. Luckily the wheels still turned and I was able to turn around and coast down. Did some stretching while I watched the river, then coasted most of the rest of the way home.

Saturday -

Saturday - lots of active rest, headed home from our fun week at Park City

Thursday, July 28, 2022

Jul 25 - 30

Thursday - We have family in town (my awesome little bro and his wife and kiddos) and since all my big kids are gone and we've been busy with family, I have not done any exercise really. No biking or gym anyway. We did do a light hike today at Bridal Veil Falls in Provo. It was crazy hot, so yay I broke a sweat.

Friday - Another light hike with Grant and his family, at Lisa Falls.

Saturday - Nada. Grant left around 10 this morning, Corey and kids are on their way back, but prob won't be here until after 2 am. So no gym, but we did do a lot of housework today, so we'll count that as active rest. I'm ready to have a fun week biking at Park City next week.

Jul 4 - 9

Monday - I was going to try and go to Corner Canyon early this morning, I even bought a bottle on Saturday, and I was dressed and ready to go this morning at 5:45 but I stopped and looked at my baby and I didn't want to leave her for that long. Corner Canyon will be there next year, but my newborn Kathy won't. So I snuggled with her a bit more then did LCC loop at 6:45 am 30:46. 5:38 on the approach hill was my 3rd best time, didn't beat any of my other times. 12.2 speed.

Tuesday - went to the gym first time since K was born, I tried to lift the same weights I did then, did most of it except for the Leg Extensions (I couldn't do 155lbs). Friday - 50 sec handstand, some stretching

Saturday - 40 sec handstand and tried to do a let down but I couldn't even hold myself at the top, so that's something to work on

Monday, June 20, 2022

June 20 - 25

Monday - Morning ride at 8:35, did Armstrong to Dawns, 1 hour 2 minutes, 5.69 miles, 827 elevation

Then did it again in the evening with Joseph! At 8:22pm, improved my time on Armstrong to Dawns Climb, Lower armstrong, Dawns, and Flow. We'll see how it compares when I do this in July when we're at Park City for the Wride reunion.

Tuesday - nothing

Wednesday - Park City ride - went down the paved main street trail, took it to Quinns, then kept going to see if it met up at Trailhead Park where Sophi had soccer games, but I chose a different way and ended up taking it all the way around Round Top, like I was riding along 1-80 and almost went to Kimball Junction. 18.90 mile ride, took me 1 hour 36 minutes. Longer than I had planned to ride, but it was good!

Thursday - Home from Park City, Corey and kids head to Bear Lake, home with Katharine, stretched and did 20 handstands, on my left foot forward I held first and last handstand for 50 seconds, oh yeah (hard, but💪go me) and 10x with right foot forward too, 50 sec first and last handstand

Friday - little stretching

Saturday - nothing

Monday, June 13, 2022

Jun 13 - 18

Monday - Did the LCC loop. Did it in 30:42 And got a PR on the hill again at 5:37, three seconds faster, ha. Go me. My average speed was 12.2 again. Entered my stats in my spreadsheet. I guess I like data. W 165.4 after the ride, yay new low. Ate well today, let my friend hunger hang around for a while.

Tuesday - I rode the canyon tonight, it was a nice ride, but is hard and still kinda sucks. The sunset when I was coming down was beautiful, so I rode a littler longer out to get a pic...

...(and to give myself more miles!) I got my longest ride yet - 12.4 miles, 1433 elevation gain, ride was 1 hour 45 minutes, Katharine was a good baby while I was gone (thank you Mel for working your magic with her, K is always good for Mel)

Wednesday - nothing

Thursday - 20 handstands, 10 with right foot forward, 10 with left foot. Held first and last handstands on each side for 40 seconds

Friday - ride this morning at 6:54 am, LCC loop, speed 11.7, didn't beat any of my past times, hill approach was 6:20

Saturday - nothing, in Park City

Sunday, June 5, 2022

Jun 6 - 11

Sunday - this morning weight 168.6, yay. I am feeling really great and baby is eating awesome, she is so lovely ~

Monday - My trusted babysitters (Abi and Mel) were both gone, so I didn't get in a bike ride today, so I did 20 handstands, 10 with my left foot forward were easy, trying to finish 10 with my right foot forward were harder, but I did it! Most of them I was just trying to get up and hold it, but I did do 2 with each leg for 20 seconds

Tuesday - ride at 8:24 pm, 6.26 miles, 32:35 minutes (2 minutes faster than last time!) Got another PR on the uphill climb, better by 25 seconds!

Wednesday - nothing

Thursday - 7:12 am morning ride with Corey. We did the trail he does (LCC straight up), and it was a killer. Worse than Clarks. 1435 elevation, 10.96 miles, 1 hour 46 minutes. I was super sweaty after and hope I am not unbearably sore tomorrow. Not bad for a 1 week post partum mom.

Friday - Did the LCC loop. Did it in 30:50! And got a PR on the hill again at 5:40! Go me. My average speed increased to 12.2. I left at 1:18 pm and it was very very hot. But I wanted to wash my hair, so I needed a good sweat first, so it was good, but hot and I don't want to ride in the sun again. Entered my stats in my spreadsheet. Weight was 165.8 after the ride, yay, new low.

Saturday - wanted to go on a ride this morning, but K kept me up a lot last night and I was too tired. Over ate today, prob eating in an attempt to get energy, but I wasn't hungry, mostly was restless and kinda frustrated. Will do better tomorrow. Did 20 handstands tonight. 10 left, held first one for 20 seconds, the last for 30 sec. 10 right - took me forever to hold 10, cause for like 20 times I was too wobbly and wasn't planted, so I don't count those. Broke a sweat though! Held first for 20 sec, last for 30.

Monday - nothing. Dr appointment today. Scheduled to be induced next Tuesday. I actually cleaned today, hoping this week is full of nesting instinct and that I get the house a bit more in order.

Tuesday - carpool and then straight to gym this morning at 8am, a nice old guy told me that I looked radiant. He asked how long I had, I said one more week. He also asked if this was my first. I prob should have just said "no" but I said "this is my 13th..." people usually don't know how to reply to that. LAT 12x95, 10x105, 8x115, 6x125, 12x115 TRICEPS 12x60, 10x70, 8x80, 6x90, 12x80 LEG EXTENSIONS 12x95, 10x115, 8x135, 6x155, 12x135 CHEST 12x55, 10x65, 8x75, 6x85, 12x75

Made myself a little spreadsheet to keep track of my time on the LCC loop. I'm really proud of how much I have improved even though I keep getting bigger with the pregnancy. I'm really looking forward to riding without this little girl inside of me. I plan on doing two more rides before she comes though, prob Saturday morning and then on Monday, hopefully at Corner Canyon both times. Corey and I are doing the temple tomorrow morning.

Friday - nothing

Saturday - Bike ride at Corner Canyon, on the trail at 6:13 am, went 7.85 miles, 1 hour 33 minutes. Got a PR on Ann's Grunter (.23 miles in 3:07), also a PR for Clark's Bridge to top of Ann's (3.24 miles in 43:05) I didn't need to stop to rest or catch my breath this time, but I did stop for a quick pic -

Monday - I took Lily to jazz band, and then Mel took the 7:20 carpool for me, so I went on a quick bike ride at 7:30 am, yay for exercising in the morning! I did the lacaille and uphill LCC loop and got a new PR on that. My LCC approach hill time improved (.55 miles in 7:38) Yay good job me. I tried to use a little bit higher gear again, did 6.21 miles in 35:33, LCC hill approach was 7:01, woo! Total time from Wasatch light to LCC - 1.59 miles in 14:18

Thursday - 12 second handstand

Friday - ready for date night -

I didn't overeat today, so I was still feeling good we got home from our date, so I was about to go on a ride, and I got all ready and was heading out on the bike but it started to rain/sleet. And it was cold, so I came back in, sat for a minute to see if it might stop, went out again, started out to the street, it didn't look like it was going to stop, and it looked worse in the direction I wanted to go, so then I cancelled my plans and took a bath instead. Right before bed I did a 60 second plank and thassit.

Saturday - evening ride. Wish it was out at corner canyon, but I ended up doing my loop and then a little more of exploring around home. Wasn't feeling a ton of energy, but I still set a new PR on the hill approach - 6:53, yay. Total ride was 12.18 miles in 1 hour 20 minutes.

Monday, May 9, 2022

Friday - took a nice long ride at Corner Canyon, I love it over there. Started at 6:46 from Draper City Park, rode over to the canyon, went up the aquaduct trail then to BST, up to Potato Hill. It was hard and I was breathing heavy and red in the face! Took Ann's East. to Peakview, then down Ghost Falls and back down to the cycle park, Porter Rockwell Trail, then to the car.

1 hour 53 minutes, 11.82 miles, elevation 1,388 feet. And Strava is telling me I had a PR on Ann's Grunter (.23 miles in 4.21), Clarks to Ghost (.79 in 5.40) and Canyon hollow to the end (.61 in 4:58). I don't know where those are really, but good job me. I didn't fall or do anything dangerous, baby is still moving, so hopefully everything is still ok with her.

Saturday - 2 Wonderful stretches.

Friday - Bike ride with Corey for date night, repeat of what I did yesterday, harder this time. I think I needed a recovery day after yesterday. Still did pretty good considering I haven't done 3 days of cardio in a row since last fall, and good for a lady that's 8 months preg. I got the Strava app after I got home so I'll start to time myself and see if I can improve as I gear up towards delivery day.

Thursday - nothing

Friday - nothing, current preg pic

Saturday - I went on a bike ride! It was a little hard, but I'm glad I did it and might try again next week, but I need to buy a pad for my seat. I used to be able to do it in 30, By the time I work back up to that, hopefully I'll have a baby and then can start going to Corner Canyon again!
