April 22 - 27

Monday - Morning ride up LCC with Corey, we almost made it to the ruins, some un-biked on snow stopped us. Probably will be rideable in another week or two. No achievements - 10.98 miles, 1:38:04 time, 1496 elevation gain (Corey got 10.96 in 1:39:42, 1492 elevation gain just had to make sure it's documented that I was faster and went further atleast one time this season, he'll be leaving me in the dust soon). RS meeting right when I got home, then ride with Katharine and Peter in the trailer after my RS meeting 3.72 miles, 35 minutes

Tuesday - Corey and I went climbing this morning (Hyrum took carpool for me) - we did top rope the whole time. We did 5 climbs, the same ones, Corey first then me except for the last one, I did the last one first and then Corey and then we were done.
  1. Purple 5.10a South Toprope - looked easy at first, I thought it would be a good warm up. Once Corey was up there it looked a little scary, like the holds were too far apart, but it was ok once I was on the wall - was able to send it
  2. next we figured we better try a 5.10c, if we were going to do one at all, before we got spent. So we did a Green 5.10c on the East Buttress (wall on the corner where you can see all the boulders). I was able to send it and not cheat and not have to take a break!
  3. Then a Hot Pink 5.10b right next to the green. That one was good too! Sent it
  4. We thought we'd cool down with an easy, so we did a Yellow 5.10a on the Back TR Sector. Easy, good!
  5. I felt like I had a little more in me and wanted to do one more so I did a Green 5.10a right next to the yellow. It was a good climb session!
45 min of stretching between 4-5:00 during a talk with Nicole, did 20 min each leg in front split then 5 min trying for pancake with Natalie on my back

Wednesday - Corey and I were going to do a ride this morning, but he didn't get up and I was waiting for him, wasn't sure what was going on but didn't want to go without him but also didn't want to wake him, so I just read. Ended up not going climbing or anything, but did do a 45 second tuck at park while P&K played, one pass on the monkey bars

Thursday - bike ride up LCC with Corey, made it all the way to the ruins! 11.36 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes. I made it up avalanche hill and even made it up the rocks before the second bridge! We did techy on the way down! yay. A few places where we had to walk, but the fallen trees have been removed. On techy, most features (log, two rock piles) were too slippery cause of snow, but it was good other than that! One hour of splits  and leg stretching)

Friday -

Saturday - tomorrow's my birthday!

  • 13 V2 sends - one of these was a lavendar on the south boulder that I had tried weeks ago but hadn't done to finish before! Did it today, yay!
Tuesday - 1 hour bike ride at 7pm - fish tail plus a detour ride up to the 2nd bridge. Snow and a fallen tree kept me from going further.

  • 6 V3 attempts - the pink in the OG that I've done before, wasn't able to get it today, and another pink one in the OG that I've never gotten. Didn't get much further that I had last attempt
  • 10 V2 sends
Thursday - 6:30 pm ride with Corey and Katharine on shotgun on Corey's bike! We up the quarry trail, made it to the 2nd bridge. 8.50 miles, time 1:17

Also took a little ride around Dimple Dell with Katharine shotgun on MY bike! My first time riding with her, it was fun. 4.79 miles, 43 minutes

Saturday -  I snuck away tonight by myself, after Corey left to go to his dad's, and then Corey showed up there at Momentum to confront me for climbing when I should be watching kids or being more responsible? Teasing "So you gonna just leave me in the rest home when we're older?!?!" We bouldered a few: I did 9:
  • 2 V4s - white one on south boulder
  • 2 V3 sends - Black and Red
  • 3 V2 sends
  • 2 V1s
and then we belayed each other on top rope, he did 3, I did three in this order:
  • Green 5.10c, front TR Sector - I think I might have put one foot on a different color, I couldn't tell from on top, it was a good hard climb!
  • Black 5.10b - Back TR Sector - good, I've done that one before  with Lily on March 29
  • Purple 5.10a - Back TR Sector - repeat, also did this one before with Lily

  • 1 V4s - the white one, yay I can still do it

I'm hoping we don't cancel anytime soon

  • 6 V2 sends
Also 2 min 5 seconds of this swimmer one and done. I was picking up another book at the library yesterday and searched for any on calisthenics, and saw this one by Mark Lauren so put it on hold, googled him while I waited for Owen at soccer practice, and tada, another step in that direction for me. Oh, just saw that I mentioned all that yesterday, ha, swimmer again got more than 2:05, 2:07 I think?

  • 2 V4 attempts - green in OG, red on south boulder
  • 3 V4s - the white one 3x

Mar 25 - 30

Monday - Climbing at 7:20 after Skyline carpool. Elementary kids were home today (end of term in the district?) so I didn't need to hurry home to get them out the door, so Natalie was in charge and I took my sweet time doing lots of climbs - 31 total:

  • 1 V4!!! My first one! A White on the short end slab of the south boulder
  • 6 V3 sends - most in the OG - I got the White, 2x RedBlue, and a new Pink on the north boulder (pic below)- it was really hard but I flashed it! At one point on it, I had to kinda pistol squat with my left leg to get up high enough to reach the next hold, I was impressed with myself. Pic and explanation below. I also got the freaking Pink in the OG, hate that one though. Purple is gone, should be a new one there for me to try on Wed!
  • 6 V2 sends
  • 13 V1 sends
  • 5 V0 sends
So with this pink V3 above, you start on the tag, then move to the two skinny triangles, then you gotta hold the one high on the right, and that's when I had to get my food on top of the first/left skinny triangle so I could stand to reach the big holds, wow! I was impressed with myself. I shared my victory with Wes. I must have been so excited that I didn't log it, cause I had to enter it late, so I thought when I left that I did 31 climbs, but with that one it's 31. Plus also did stretching for 30 minutes on yoga blocks while K played with the train at violin

Tuesday - 4.76 miles -1 hour 28 min walk from Burt Bros back home, took a detour from Quail Hollow to LaCaille for fun. Stretching at noon for 30 minutes on yoga blocks in my closet.

Wednesday -  Natalie came with me at 6 this morning (I was impressed she got up!) There wasn't a new purple V3 :( there was a green V4 but I didn't try it. Did 16 total today:
  • 1 V4 - White one again
  • 1 V4 attempt - a purple one in the OG sector over where the green one I liked used to be
  • 3 V3 sends - RedBlue, then Red again at the end.
  • 6 V2 sends
  • 5 V1 sends
Then 20 minutes of stretching (on yoga blocks at 2 levels, 5 min each leg 2x)

Thursday - 1.5 mile walk around the neighborhood pulling P&K in the wagon, delivering some Easter gifts. Then 30 min of stretching (on yoga blocks at 3 levels, 5 min each leg, I'm down to the fat purple yoga block laying flat, not bad, working to get to the black block laying flat)

Friday - climbing with Lily after I picked her up from carpool. She did a few boulders, then she just belayed me for a few routes:
  • 1 V4 - White one
  • 1 V3 attempt - white in OG
  • 3 V2 sends
  • 2 V1 sends
  • 5.9 purple - easy
  • 5.10a purple - hard but I did it!
  • 5.10b black - stepped on a different color up near the end, I was tired
  • 5.10c white - I knew I wouldn't be able to get far since I was doing it at the end, and it had some two finger holds. I gave up before half way. Couldn't even hold on to the wall to rest I was so tired
Then for date night Corey and I went on a bike ride - exploring Parley's a little bit on the BST Granger Peak (Parley's Bench) side first (went until the trail was too muddy), then back down hill onto the paved bike path, over the freeway bridges to Parley's Pointe BST by the freeway, I think we barely made it up 1.6th of the trail. 5.82 miles total, 1 hour 2 minutes, 978 elevation.

Saturday - 150 walking lunges during O&D's soccer games. 100 second hollow hold at home, 1 min center plank, then climbing at 9pm tonight. 24 total today:
  • 3 V4 attempts - yellow and green in OG, and white at the end of my session, couldn't do it!
  • 5 V3 sends - RedBlue, new Pink from Monday, then Red again at the end, and white V3 on north boulder, not a total clean send on that one but I'm counting it
  • 8 V3 attempts - 5 on the white V3 that I finally kinda sent, green blue yellow
  • 4 V2 sends
  • 3 V1 sends
  • 1 V0

Monday, March 18, 2024

  • 2 V3 attempt - 1x White above, 1x Red above

  • 6 V1 sends
  • 3 V0 sends
Then Corey and I went on a ride at 5:30, went to Hidden Valley park, took that to the Ghost Falls trail head (up Canyon road) and then back to the car, but I rode home while Corey drove. Total for me: 13.22 miles, 1:49, Corey 10.6 miles, 1:27

Thursday - nothing. Started to stretch, but only got 2 min in before I was interrupted

Friday - Climbing at 6:10 am, 16 total:
  • 5 V3 sends - In the OG I got the White, RedBlue, 2x Purple
  • 2 V3 attempts - tried the new Yellow on the OG sector again, also one Purple attempt at the end of my session when I was trying to just get one more, but couldn't do it.
  • 2 V2 sends
  • 1 V2 attempt - new green one, looks hard
  • 4 V1 sends
  • 2 V0 sends
Saturday - stretching for 30 minutes on yoga blocks

  • 12 V3 attempts - just wearing ourselves out, tried to do the red on 40 wall a few times after I did it once, but my hands were wasted. Was wasted for most of them, but kept trying anyway.
  • 4 V2 sends
  • 3 V2 attempts
  • 3 V1 sends
Saturday - It was another nice day outside! I took a ride on the road up Wasatch Blvd, to Orson Smith Trailhead in Draper, took that up Corner Canyon Road, past Rattler I think, then back home along the BST to Hidden Valley Park. Total 17.61 miles, 2 hours 14 minutes, 10 achievements one of which was the 3rd longest ride on Strava, yay.

Monday, March 4, 2024

Mar 4 - 9

Monday - 20 total:

  • 6 V3 sends - BlueRed and Purple4x
  • 4 V3 attempts - couldn't get the hot pink, today, tried 3x. Tried black V3 too.
  • 4 V2s
  • 5 V1s
  • 1 V0
Tuesday - nothing

Wednesday - Climbing at 6am, I got the hot pink V3 today, yay. And the blue, and red! and purple 3x for a total of 6 V3s, which is good, cause I had to tie my V3s from Monday, woot woot. 22 total:
  • 6 V3 sends - BlueHot pinkRed and Purple 3x!
  • 1 V3 attempt - blue by hot pink, I keep forgetting that one is there, try it first next time.
  • 6 V2 - there were some new ones in the OG Sector
  • 5 V1s
  • 3 V0s - some new ones on the south boulder
Pulled wagon with P&K to school to pick up Natalie, that was about a mile walk. It is a nice day outside. Bike ride to Glacial Park's bishops home for the keys to the church, then to the Mt Jordan chapel, them back home. Natalie and I stretched for 30+ minutes. We're going to be able to do the splits by March 6, 2025

Thursday - stretching with Natalie

Friday - Went climbing after dropping off Churchill carpool. I felt so great after (I did TEN V3s!) which is good cause we had a busy day ahead of us with the wedding dinner, so it was good that I was feeling empowered. Did 18 total:
  • 1 V4 attempt (near the end of my session, just to see what I could do. I got half way up!)
  • 10 V3 sends - first one I did today was a black V3 on the north boulder, and I got it! It was kinda easy, so then I did it again and got it, so I already had two V3s, I thought maybe I'd just do V3s most of the time today. I went over to do the blue one I've done before but it was gone, must have been stripped cause it was fairly new... but there was a new white V3 in it's place (in the OG by the bathroom wall), I tried it and got it! so I was feeling empowered with three V3s done - tried the Red and got, did the Blue (by the hot pink) and got that!!! Did the Purple 3x! And then at the very end I saw another new Red by where the orange V2 is, I thought I'd try it but didn't think I'd get it cause I was wasted, but I tried it and got it! Then I was at 9 V3s for the day, so decided to do the Purple one one more time for a total of 10.
  • 4 V3 attempt - one on the Hot pink, I've done before 2 others on a hot pink on the 40 wall which I have not done before, also tried a yellow
  • 1 V2 - warm up, new one by the white V3 I did today
  • 1 V2 attempt - stupid purple V2 that I can't get, right by the hot pink
  • 1 V1 - warm up, new one by the white V3 I did today
Saturday - Ethan and Bella's wedding. Walking around the temple, running around setting up the reception center, dancing at the reception.

Monday, February 26, 2024

Feb 26 - Mar 2

Monday - Climbing during violin - I got the hot pink V3 today!

I did 16 total:

  • 4 V3 sends - the purple hanging one 3 times and today I finally got hot pink V3! And on my first try! I wasn't able to get it the second time today. I got really close on two other V3s! A blue and the red hanging one...
  • 5 V3 attempts - red hanging one in OG 2x, Blue one in OG on north wall 2x, and the hot pink one once (after I sent it)
  • 5 V2s
  • 2 V1s

Then quick fishtail ride after I got home. 29 minutes, 5.72 miles

Tuesday - This morning I took carpool, and since I'm out there... might as well go to Momentum! Cause I like it better when there aren't many people, which = morning. So even though I climbed yesterday and I knew my palms wouldn't be able to handle much I decided to go try those V3s from yesterday. AND guess what! I did one warm up on the V1 and my palms were like "Ahh! NO! Not yet!!! Were not ready!" and I thought "shoot... I'm not going to be able to do this..." I pondered for a moment and then went and did an easy hanging V2, palms still hurt. Do I got home? If I hurry home, then maybe Corey won't have to wake up Peter and Katharine for Books and Bagels... but... I'd feel stupid facing the girl at the front desk if I went back and turned in my rental shoes so quickly. Well, I'll just try the blue V3... and I DID IT! I felt empowered. Look at me! Maybe I'll try the hot pink V3 again! Did, and sent it! I still had the whole area to myself, so wasn't afraid of looking stupid in front of anyone else, so then I did the RED V3 and I got that one too! Then sent the purple one, and attempted a few other V3s. Felt good! 10 total:
  • 4 V3 sends - Blue, Hot pink, Red and Purple!
  • 3 V3 attempts - another blue (by hot pink), another hot pink (by white V2), and a black (where green V3 used to be)
  • 1 V2 - purple with lots of holds on 45 wall
  • 1 V1 - purple in OG by blue V3
Feeling super proud of myself! Yay

Wednesday - 8am short morning walk - 1.59 miles, 30 minutes.
5:30 pm my weight was 143 today, not sure what the heck is going on (just stress from wedding prep??) so went on a LCC ride on silver bike, 1 hour 15 min, 10.6 miles, 5 achievements, avg 8.5 mph

Thursday - 17 total:
  • 5 V3 sends - Blue 1xRed 1x and Purple 3x
  • 4 V3 attempts - couldn't get the hot pink today, but glad I did 5 V3s
  • 3 V2 - purple with lots of holds on 45 wall
  • 3 V1s
  • 2 V0s

Friday - climbing with neighbor Terry, and ODP. I mostly belayed them, but at the end I did a few boulders (my hands were still wasted from yesterday tho) Some were new, but did a few in the OG, after one attempt I was able to do the hot pink V3. Two attempts but didn't get the red V3.

Saturday - 2.55 mile walk in south SL, from Standard Restaurant supply store to McDonalds. I was having a bit of a panic attack I think, 41 minutes.

Monday, February 19, 2024

Feb 19 - 24

Monday - Happy Anniversary. Peter's been sick and Corey feels a little sick too, so the two of them have been quarantined in our room today. I left to go climbing at 12:30pm. I invited Lily but she didn't take me up on it. I miss Wes! I did 17:

  • 2 V3 attempts - red hanging one in OG, Yellow one on east side of OG boulder
  • 2 V3 sends - the purple hanging one! I got it today no problem on the first try, then did the V2 of it right after, then did it again. Tried a 3rd time and didn't get it. The green V3 was gone today - they were putting new climbs on that wall. I hope there's a new V3 I can get.
  • 6 V2s, one was a green one on the OG south wall that I'd tried once before, got it today!
  • 5 V1s
  • 2 V0s
Then went on a walk to finish delivering the last 8 shower invitations, then walk to sunrise point. On my walk home from the stake center I was balancing a rock on my head. That made me walk with good posture! 3.37 miles in 1:06

Tuesday - nothing. In a real funk today, didn't even want to stretch

Wednesday - Bouldering after taking carpool. Did 20:
  • 1 V3 attempt - Hot pink one in OG. I think I can do it if I start fresh next time!
  • 2 V3 sends - the purple hanging one again - got it first try np, AND did it again at the very end and was able to do it!
  • 7 V2s, one was an orange one on the south boulder that I hadn't been able to do - got it first try today
  • 3 V2 attempts - purple jump one twice in OG, it's the last V2 I need to do in that section, and a green one on the south boulder. I think the green one is not possible for short people.
  • 7 V1s - some were new ones that I just hadn't seen or tried before, flashed them all
Then perhaps to make up for yesterday, I also went on an evening bike ride. Took the opportunity cause the sky was half clear and it looked nice outside. I just biked up the canyon road. Was 41 degrees, and it got colder as I got further up the canyon. It was wet. Not raining, just went from snow melting. The wet ground wasn't a problem on the slow climb up the canyon, but it did make it hard to see on the fast ride down, when the water and the salt from the snow melt that covered the roads sprayed all over my face from my tires turning quickly around. It gave me lots of dirty freckles!
Note to self for next time: wear glasses if you want to be able to see!

Thursday - I usually don't boulder two days in a row, but thought I'd try today and then when I go Saturday I'll have had enough rest. I tried to only do V2s, but did one V1 as a cool down. Total 20:
  • 5 V3 attempts - just trying different ones - 2green & a black on north boulder, and hot pink from yesterday (I do think I can get that one if I start fresh, but didn't start it fresh today)
  • 1 V3 send - did the purple hanging one at the end of the session, woot!
  • 9 V2 sends - orange one on north boulder twice
  • 1 V1 send - as cooldown
Friday - Did 40 divebombers with the goal to beat my 2012 time. I didn't see what it was before I started, did first 10 in 37 seconds, then next 10 up until 1:19, then paused to see how I did it last time (timed each set of 10 separately? or let the clock keep going?) I think I left the clock going. But I saw I was crushing my 2012 times! 2012 I did 10 - 0:57, then to 20 - 2:59, then to 30 - 4:48, Finished 40 - 7:54. Today was:
  • First 10 - 37 seconds
  • up to 20 - 1:19 - took a 1 min pause to look at 2012 times...
  • 30 finished in 39 seconds to make total time 2:58
  • Last 10 took me 1.37, total time 4:35!!!
Awesome! I guess that's what bouldering will do for your upper body strength! Tried to do a handstand later but could only hold it for 40 seconds. Did a 1 min headstand.

Saturday - Corey and I almost went on a bike ride, but then I got a flat tire on the van and had to take that in and so the ride fell out of the day's plans. But we did go climbing at Momentum with the kids, which is good cause we've been paying for a family pass but not having the family use it. Maybe we'll change to just a couple's pass. I do want to keep climbing in the spring and summer, fingers crossed we can work it into the budget. I didn't climb much tonight with the kids there - Sophi and I did a little bit of bouldering, but then she looked bored so I took her over to do top rope and then I belayed for 40 minutes. We took two cars, so when Corey left with the kids, I stayed and bouldered a little bit longer. Total for tonight was 22:
  • 7 V3 attempts - got a little closer on the hot pink one on the 45 wall, tried one on the 40 wall too, and a green on the north boulder
  • 5 V3 send - the purple hanging one over and over
  • 6 V2 sends - orange one on north boulder twice
  • 3 V1 sends
  • 1 V0

Feb 12 - 17

Monday - Climbing this morning. My hands were still pretty raw from Saturday (I had filed them down quite a bit after climbing with Corey that night) I only did 11:

  • 1 V3 attempt - purple V1&2 from ground level
  • 2 V3 sends - green one
  • 1 V2 attempt - tried to do the purple V1&2 one again at the end but couldn't
  • 4 V2 sends
  • 3 V1 sends
Walked with Sophi and Natalie to the bank tonight just for fun. 3.55 miles, 1 hour 9 min. Well, I did it to deposit some cash, but I could have driven, but we walked to do it "just for fun"

Tuesday - Went on a bike ride! It was 49 degrees and the sun was shining, and I had two babysitters at home (home sick) so I went for a quick ride. 1 hour 6 min, 9.51 miles, took the road up LCC. Road is a bit boring and I was a little nervous of cars coming up behind me, but it was ok. I decided to stop at the 3rd bridge cause my sit bones couldn't take it anymore. I didn't have a padded seat nor my padded shorts, and haven't given my seat any conditioning since Nov. I did get 4 achievements though - LCC approach to gate S was a PR of 25:16. LCC mile 1 PR 11:35, Victorie Interval PR 7:12, and 2nd place on one mile test. Last year (4/27/23) I did that in 15:52, was 16:31 today.

Wednesday - Climbing this morning, did 17:
  • 2 V3 attempt - two new ones, blue and pink, both in OG sector
  • FIVE V3 sends! - (Yes... four of those were the green one...) BUT! I also did the Purple hanging V2/V3 one! I did four climbs before it, then decided to try before I was too tired, and I started it from the V3 start point and got it! Was totally out of breath after, but I did it! Yay!!
  • 1 V2 attempt - new jumping purple on in OG, new technical skill, will work on it.
  • 7 V2 sends -
  • 2 V1 sends - one warm up and on cool down
70 second handstand, leg stretching 20 minutes, 3.45 mile walk around neighborhood delivering bridal shower invitations, 1 hour 11 minutes.

Thursday - 2 Wonderful flows, 4 min round of planks, 1 100 sec hollow hold, handstand, 500 mountain climbers

Friday - Skiing with MALSPK, biceps were killing as I carried Katharine from the car to the lift, woo! Then legs were burning skiing the first long hill down with her! Was better once we got to the magic carpet.

Saturday - bouldering before it closed - I wasn't able to do the purple V3, darn it! That's what I get for missing yesterday. I did 20:
  • 2 V3 attempt - wasn't able to get the purple V3 today
  • 3 V3 sends - all on the green one.
  • 9 V2 sends
  • 4 V1 sends
  • 2 V0 sends

Feb 5 - 10

Monday - Bouldering this morning after Skyline carpool. Mostly in OG Sector.

I did 14 climbs today:

  • 3 V3 sends - Just one route, the green pictured above, but I did it three times. It is more of a V2 in my opinion, but it was good! I texted the pic below to Wes to let him know the good news!
  • 8 V2 sends
  • 2 V1 sends
  • 1 V0 send
Tuesday - 6:30 am walk, 1.72 miles, 28 minutes, had to be back to take carpool at 7, 4310 steps.

Wednesday - bouldering after carpool - I did 23 today:
  • 5 V3 attempts
  • 1 V3 send - the green one
  • 6 V2 sends
  • 1 V2 attempt - a green one at the end, I was too tired!
  • 6 V1 sends
  • 4 V0 sends
Thursday - 7:50 am walk/jog to sunrise point after taking carpool. 3 miles exactly! 41 minutes, 5308 steps. 12 minutes of planks! I haven't done that in a while! And Wonderful Wonderful stretch, plus 30 min of leg stretching.

Friday - 22 climbs this morning at 6 am. Then 20 min of splits stretching and a 61 second handstand

Saturday - Skiing at Nordic Valley, it was Katharine's first time, it was fun. She's cute.
Then Corey and I went climbing tonight. I walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes, 1 mile, then  handstand 63 seconds, then 60. Then stretched while Corey finished his stationary bike - straight leg each side 3 min, then with bent knee each side 5 min. 15-ish climbs after that. Tried the purple V2/V3, I did it from the V2 spot, had a few attempts from V2 and V3 start points, didn't log those attempts, not sure how many attempts I had. As for sends:
  • 3 V3 send - the green one
  • 9 V2 sends
  • 2 V1 sends

Jan 29 - Feb 3

Monday - Bouldering this morning after Skyline carpool. SB = south boulder. I did 20:

  • 1 V3 attempts
  • 6 V2 sends
  • 6 V2 attempts (2 each on yellow SB short - I got further on it than I've done before! orange SB cave. green SB long slab)
  • 6 V1 sends
  • 1 V0 sends
Tuesday - Sent Wes off on his mission this morning. Corey took ALS to the temple tonight, so I left N in charge and went on a walk at 8pm, one hour long, 3.23 miles.

Wednesday - Bouldering this morning after Skyline carpool, I did 25:
  • 2 V3 attempts
  • 7 V2 sends
  • 2 V2 attempts (green on south boulder, orange on south boulder cave)

  • 5 V0 sends
Thursday - morning walk, 2.91 miles, 44 minutes, listened to "Hallelujah anyway" on repeat

Friday - Bouldering this morning after taking Lily to Skyline early (it was late start for the rest of carpool)
  • 3 V3 attempts - 2 of those were on a new purple one that I think I can get with a bit more endurance - left me totally wasted! it's a V2 and a V3 depending on where you start, I was able to do it from the V2 part, not the V3 yet, but I'll get it!
  • 7 V2 sends
  • 3 V2 attempts
  • 4 V1 sends
  • 2 V0 sends
Saturday - a few bouldering climbs at 9:20pm at the Sandy Momentum while I waited for Lily to arrive on the Frontrunner train, began a fast at 2:00

Jan 22 - 27

Monday - bouldering during violin, 15 sends, there were two new V1s, so I did those and now have all the V1s done again. Most of my usual V2s, no V3s today

Tuesday - quick jog/walk to sunrise point after carpool but before kids left for elementary school - 2.34 miles in 27 minutes

Wednesday - lots of housework. I moved up Katharine's toy kitchen up two flights of stairs by myself! 10 minutes of stretching

Thursday - bouldering this morning, 18 total - 16 sends, 2 attempts. I believe that the green V2 on the south side of the north boulder is hereby impossible. There were new routes in the OG sector, tried a Red V3 that is where the black V2 used to be. Hard, but maybe doable? I might be too short. Lots of housework again. I moved two small filing cabinets (two drawers) up two flights of stairs by myself, oh yeah. Plus 20 handstands against the wall, held twice for 40 seconds, rest of them were just quick stable holds

Friday - quick toprope session at the Sandy Momentum after date night - Corey already exercised today, so he just belayed me. Did 5 climbs, two intros, like 5.8 and 5.9 I think, then I did 5.10a, 5.10c,  and a 5.10a cooldown which was really hard at the end. Good to feel maxed out.

Saturday - morning walk/dance, 3.27 miles, 52 minutes, 1 achievement of my "3rd fastest time for 2 miles" (32:52) I did 200 walking lunges on the way home, 75, 75, then 50. Stretched for 20 min

Jan 15 - 20

Monday - At Brian Head today. Stretched this morning with Mel, 20 minutes, 5 min nose to knee each side, then repeat but with knee bent (not the knee I'm putting my nose to). then Skiing at Brian Head! It was fun.

Tuesday - Top Rope with Wes at 8pm, we both did 4 climbs. Green 5.10b, then the 5.10 c that I wasn't able to do last time. I had to take a break, and after struggling a bit I finally got over the lip. Then did a pretty easy yellow 5.10a. After those 3 we were spent, but I tried to go for one more, only got half way o up a blue 5.10c, woo! That is a workout! Then we shook it our and did some quick bouldering, I was able to go five V2s that have all been challenging, sent them first try, which is good since we were so tired.

Wednesday - shoveled snow this morning, again this afternoon.

Thursday - two 10 min sessions stretching my back on the orange thing, 100 seconds hollow hold

Friday - climbing after carpool 1 V0, 5 V1s, 5 V2 sends, 2 V2 attempts, 1 V3 attempt that purple hanging one. Then took a walk after I got home, 2.52 miles, 47 minutes

Saturday - morning walk, 2.98 miles, 52 minutes, did 150 walking lunges at the end. Bouldering with Wes and Hyrum at 6:30, my last time with Wes!!! I'll miss you Wes!

Monday, January 8, 2024

Jan 8 - 13

Monday - climbing during violin. Daniel came with me. I was able to do that black V3 again. Got further on a purple V3. I probably need Wes to coach me through it. Started taking this happy hormone pack today. A friend says they've been a life changer.

Tuesday - morning walk. cold, 2.43 miles, 47 minutes.

25 minutes stretching my back on this TheraPoint orange lobster thing I ordered. "Eliminate your pain or your money back" (it feels so good, I fell asleep)

Wednesday - Snowed last night, spent an hour plowing the driveway then shoveling

Thursday - stretching 15 minutes

Friday - shoveled snow, then bouldering after carpool - did three V0s, 3 V1s, 5 V2 sends, two V2 attempts, 3 V3 attempts on the south boulder

Saturday - Momentum with Corey, we practiced clips on the exercise bike, then a little bouldering, did four V2s in the OG sector. Then we did top rope! It was the first time he was belayed, it was good! Did a green 5.10c that I've done before, then a purple 5.9, then tried a 5.10c and couldn't do it - something to shoot for next time.

Jan 1 - 6

Monday - Happy New Year. I took a 9am morning walk to the van, whereupon I learned that I got a ticket for parking overnight, doh. Borrowed Joseph's skis and clothes and did 3 runs on Milly's Express.

Tuesday - Walked to school with Natalie this morning. Bouldering at 2:30 while Corey did cardio. Did 23 climbs, 13 attempts and 10 sends. I finally did the stupid purple V2 in the OG "The 30 Prow" that is right on the edge by the bathroom with a really weird and big hold for the start. It is not a kind climb if you are short, but I finally did it, yay. Next time I'm going to try the purple V2 in the OG sector - it has a wide reach that is also not kind to me as a short person. I started it from the wide stretch part and was able to get to the top, and I can get to the wide stretch part from the beginning, so I'll try that fresh next time.

Wednesday - 2.45 mile walk at 9pm. 44 minutes. Listened to Jody Moore podcast 207 on my walk. Two hoodlums in cars were chasing each other around the quiet neighborhood where I was walking, it was scary!! They were going so fast. It seemed like one of them was raged at the other and the other might have been trying to get away, they could have totally killed someone or crashed into a car head on cause one of them passed the other one on a corner. It was scary.

Thursday - climbing around 10:30 am, in the OG sector I attempted a white V4, a green V3, I'm getting closer to those. Today I finally did a purple V2 that's been eluding me, attempted it twice and then got it on the third try today. Total of 14 attempts on that one! It was good. 10 sends and 10 attempts for a total of 20 today. Knicked my pointer finger near the end, once I draw blood, then I'm done.

Friday - shoveled snow, didn't overeat, yay. Did a lot of housework today, organizing.

Saturday - Skiing at Sundance, our first time there, it was fun! Then climbing around 7 tonight, 19 total, I did a black V3 on the North boulder, attempted a green v3 that was next to it a few times. started with the three hardest V2 for me in the OG sector, did them again at the end
