Dec 16 - 21

Monday - Bouldering at 6am. Did 30:

  • 1 V4 attempt
  • 3 V3 attempts
  • 3 V2 attempts
  • 3 V2 Sends
  • 3 V1 attempts
  • 10 V1 sends
  • 1 V0 attempt - still didn't get that hanging V0 in the OG sector!
  • 6 V0 sends
20 handstands. I'm getting better! I can easily get up each time, I can hold them pretty long and even for like 3-5 seconds without my feet touching the wall, woot

Tuesday - Ride up LCC on the trail. 11.30 miles, Ruins and Techy. Pretty melted and icy, even though it was 40 degrees at home, 35 on the trail. I took silver bike thinking it would be easier to do the climb (cause I wasn't feeling it) but it was so melted that there were lots of rocks showing and I wished I had my shocks. I took the decent very cautiously but still had a slip and fall, prob cause I didn't have my dropper post. Lesson learned. Take the Fezzari.

Dec 9 - 14

Monday - 6:20 am Top rope with Corey:

  • CT Hot pink 5.10b
  • CT Purple 5.9
  • TC hot pink 5.8
  • TC Green 5.10a
  • CT black 5.9
Also rode up LCC. 35 degrees when I started at 3:15, 32 when I finished. Just a light dusting of snow on the trail, and there was only one other set of tracks, so I knew that I was the second person on the trail today.
I'm red riding hood! Riding a bike around the hood. Rode from home to ruins, 11.29 miles, 1 hour 46 min.

Tuesday - My hands were not tender at all after climbing yesterday, so last night I decided I'd go climbing at the Sandy Momentum at 6am after my 5am temple appt. Followed through with my plan, did 28:
  • 6 V3 attempts
  • 2 V2 attempts
  • 5 V2 Sends
  • 10 V1 sends
  • 5 V0 sends
Hands are tender after that! Good stuff.

Wednesday - Ride with Corey up LCC. Snow/ice was a little slick. We haven't had more snow, so it's been packed down a lot.

Thursday - Toprope this morning with Corey. He did each climb first and then me. We did 6:
  • Red 5.9 North
  • Blue 5.10a North (this one was hard for me)
  • Yellow 5.10a North (hard too! Took a brief rest half way up the wall)
  • Black 5.10a South (pretty wasted after this, but both felt we could still do an easy one)
  • Pink 5.9
  • Pink 5.8
Then at 4:15 I went on a walk, 2.53 miles, 42 minutes. Set a timer and walked for 20 and then returned, because 40 minutes of walking 3x a week will help my hippocampus!

Friday - Snowing this morning. Went climbing (10 min late cause I had to shovel tire tracks for myself and Corey), did 16 boulders:
  • 1 V2 send
  • 5 V2 attempts
  • 2 V1 sends
  • 4 V0 attempts - that one dang hard one in the OG Sector. I even tried it near the beginning today, when I hoped my fingers would have more strength. I wonder if it was mislabeled? It is hanging and def too hard for a zero.
  • 4 V0 sends
3pm ride on quarry trail, just me. Fresh snow was a little slick, even with a few fat bikes having ridden on it. I went to Techy then back home. Had to HAB for quite a bit of the trail cause of the loose snow. Also lots of hikers on it, so it was kinda bumpy, not smooth like two weeks ago. 39 degrees when I started, 35 when finished. 10.83 miles, 1 hour 55 min.

Saturday - nothing. It's been a while since I did "nothing"!

Monday, December 2, 2024

Dec 2 - 7

Monday - 20 handstands, 10 each foot forward. I'm doing better at holding it without the wall, and today I also tried to hold it on one hand (left), haha, did it for like .08 of a second

Tuesday - Bike ride to the ruins, techy on the way down. I got 3 ACHIEVEMENTS! I hit everything on techy and tied my PR time at 2:47! AND there was no one on the trail, so I was feeling confident and tried going fast, plus with the snow, it made all the chunky rocks just easy to glide over, and I got a PR on the coalpit area (avalanche hill!) 1:41, Also 3rd place at 3:39 for Fastest section alive (pr was 3:32 on 11/6/23) It was fun! And beautiful. 45 degrees when I started, 40 when I was done, 11.15 miles, 1 hour 40 min.
Wednesday - Corey got us Momentum memberships on Black Friday last week, so yay! Today was our first day! We went together at 6:30 am and just did bouldering (cause we had to hurry and get back to the kids). Corey is so excited!
The first thing I tried was two V3s on the short slab of the south boulder, and I did both of them! My arms were freaking out but I did them! I did 15 total today:
  • 2 V3s - green and yellow
  • 2 V2 sends -
  • 2 V2 attempts
  • 4 V1 sends
  • 3 V0 sends
  • 1 V0 attempt
That last one, the V0 I didn't send, was in the OG sector on the 45 wall and was a hanging one, I couldn't hold myself on by the end of the session and that's when I knew we were done for today! I'm excited to be back climbing though!

Thursday - Ride up to the ruins after the girls got home from school. Started at 3:19, temp 44 degrees. I SENT EVERYTHING ON THE CLIMB TODAY! for my first time this year (the snow totally helped to make the obstacles easier (esp the 2nd bridge rocks) Oh didn't do the 3rd bridge pipe, but that one is easy. I was glad today I got the rocks after Lisa Falls, the first time I was able to get up that in the snow. AND I sent all of techy (rock gardens were way easy with snow! I got 5 achievements on the decent! A PR on Techy (cool way: 3:01!) and on the whole Quarry Downhill (3.6 miles in 15:03!)
The snow by the bridges looked so cool - ice crystals!
I had a very enjoyable ride.
38 degrees when I got back home. 11.21 miles, 1:35:23, 1519 elevation

Friday - Left at 5:50am this morning by myself. Was at Momentum there from 6:08 - 6:50, did 34:
  • 2 V3s - same one two times, a yellow on the south boulder long slab
  • 6 V2 sends
  • 3 V2 attempts
  • 12 V1 sends
  • 1 V1 attempt (last one of the day, a purple (on the 45 wall again))
  • 10 V0 sends
Done at 6:50d am, home at 7:06

Saturday - ride up LCC to the ruins with Corey. 11.26 miles, 1 hour 40 min, 1523 elevation. 42 degrees when we started at 12:30, 45 when finished. Some stretching.

Monday, November 25, 2024

Nov 25 - 30

Monday - 3pm ride up to the ruins after Abi and Lily got home. 11.24 miles, 1 hour 43 min, 1523 elevation gain.

Tuesday - pull up, chin up, hang, a few let downs, handstand

Wednesday - Left at 1pm for a ride up the canyon, went on the trail, made it to the ruins, did techy 2x. 11.92 miles, 1 hour 57 minutes. 1636 elevation gain. I wore snowboots, they worked pretty well! My feet were warmer, I think I'll wear them again.

Thursday - Pre Thanksgiving ride - Corey and I went up to the ruins and techy, 25 degrees was a bit cold, made Corey's dropper post freeze.

Friday - Drove to St. George, ride with Corey - did Zen, 6.68 miles, 1 hour 35 min, 1119 elevation, 14 achievements (easy to get those since this was just our 2nd time riding this trail)

Saturday - Ride with Corey, JEM, Dead Ringer, Hurricane Rim, etc. 15.62 miles, 2 hour 19 min, 1296 elevation

Monday, November 18, 2024

Nov 18 - 23

Monday - I fasted on Friday for my neighbor's baby, up until date night, then started again. Did a full fast Saturday and Sunday, only drank a little bit of lemon water at the end of the day. So this morning I just went on a slow walk, and hallelujah I also reached my weight goal. They are hoping to know more about the baby in the next 48 hours, so I'm going to try to keep fasting most of the day, might have one meal, but haven't had it yet (as of 8 am)

Tuesday - 6:30 am did a 20 minute/1.02 mile walk on treadmill (did one jog for a few and one 50 second fast as the treadmill will go sprint) and then 3 laps around the block 1.12 miles in 19 min (jogged a little there too)

Wednesday - 2:45 pm rode up LCC to Techy and back in the snow!! 10.77 miles, 1 hour 32 minutes. Plus 20 handstands

Thursday - Rode to the ruins in the snow with Corey, 11.18 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes

Friday - 1 pull up 2 chin ups, 1 pull up 2 chin ups, quick ride to Natalie's friends house and back, 2.5 miles.

Saturday - Fasted until 4:30 today for Elisabeth's baby. I thought I could ride up the trail today, but it was too warm (high 50s, low 60s) so it was all slushy. Plus a lot of wind. So I took the road, I got to just past avalanche hill then came back home. 7.85 miles in 52 minutes. Then went over to clean Elisabeth's house with a few friends from 1:30- 4, it was great.

Monday, November 11, 2024

Nov 11 - 16

Monday - Weather was 60 today, and forecast says there will be snow tomorrow. So... we took another "last ride" today. 15.68 miles, 1781 elevation gain. Took us 2 hours 10 minutes. We did a repeat of our Saturday ride, parking a bit before the tollbooth, riding up to the Rattlesnake Gulch trailhead, up the switchbacks to the Pipeline trail. Today we took it west to the peak at the beginning of the canyon, then turned around and rode it all the way east until we got to the elbow! It was a serious climb. Here we are at the elbow, with sunset upon us, and so we've just got 10-20 minutes to make it back to the car before dark. Luckily that's pretty easy via the road.

Let's keep it under 30 mph, allright? I was surprised to see the road was not plowed. We were riding in a winter wonderland! We were glad the trail e climbed up on the north side of the mountain wasn't snow covered like this. But it felt kinda hardcore, so it was fun. We didn't slip and slide.
And when we got to Maple Grove where a winter gate was blocking off the road to cars. Ah ha. So I learned that this is the Millcreek Canyon Nordic Track in the winter. Fun! Someday maybe we'll get fat bikes and do winter riding around here.

Tuesday - one pull up, overate. Feeling bloated and not good

Wednesday - 4:40 pm walk, 3.64 miles, 1 hour 14 min. 20 handstands against wall, 10 left 10 right, and 25 minutes of stretching, some warrior tai chi movement

Thursday - Walk at 9:40 while K was at a friend's house, 3.35 miles, 1 hour

Friday - Walk around the neighborhood this morning at 7:30, 2.46 miles in 42 minutes. Then a walk with Natalie down to the grocery store after she got home from school, 1:30 pm, 3.17 miles, 1 hour 4 min. 2 dead hang chin ups. Fasted for neighbor and her little baby boy who had open heart surgery at 2 days old.

Saturday - 8 am I was out shoveling a lot of snow before Abi had to leave for GMS, and then they said their class would be on zoom. It's all right, we got it done, but I wasn't planning on getting all sweaty doing that. Across the street they hardly have any, it's not fair. Went out to eat with Corey last night, then started a fast again for our neighbor and her baby.

Monday, November 4, 2024

Nov 4 - 9

Monday - chin up, pull up, handstands

Tuesday - Lily stayed home from school feeling unwell, so after I got the kids off to school, I left her with K and went on a walk. It was nice. 4.5 miles, 1 hour 32 min

Wednesday - chin up, pull up, hang, 20 handstands, one for 70 seconds

Thursday - morning walk to Sunrise Point at 7:30, had to hurry to get home to wake up the boys. 2.35 miles, 33 minutes

Friday - chin up and pull up, I can still do one

Saturday - Temp was in the low 50s so Corey and I went on a ride, started 3:45 up Millcreek Canyon to the Rattlesnake Trailhead and up to Pipeline from there. My first time doing that climb, 20 switchbacks! Then a flat ride alone pipeline, muddy in places but overall not bad. 10.37 miles, 1 hour 32 minutes

Monday, October 28, 2024

Oct 28 - Nov 2

Monday - 4pm Ride to ruins after Natalie got home. Will prob be the only ride this week, might be the last one of the season? Home > ruins > Techy > Trailhead. I rode from home, Corey met me at the trailhead. 1 hour 30 min, 9.29 miles, also did 20 min stretching at the trailhead while I waited for him. At home: 1 chin up, 1 pull up

Tuesday - nada. Storm came in last night, it's cold.

Wednesday - 20 handstands in the morning (make up for nothing yesterday) 2 wheels, 1 pull up, 1 chin up, 20 handstands in the evening. Need to find the key to the treadmill!

Thursday - Walk to school for kids halloween parade. Quick ride on the quarry trail as far as I could go before snow stopped me. Not deep, just made the trail too slick. Went a little bit past the 1st bridge. Rode silver bike cause I was hoping to get an achievement on the climb. No such luck. 6.96 miles, 43 minutes

Friday - handstands, chin up, pull up

Saturday - walk around the neighborhood pushing K in stroller. 2.5 miles in 52 minutes. Started a fast today. Ate one fruit leather and 3 apples then started fast for Fast Sunday tomorrow.

Monday, October 21, 2024

Oct 21 - 26

Monday - Corey took a lunchtime ride up LCC, I drove Owen up to meet him on his descent. Daniel, Peter and Katharine and I did a little nature walk at 2:30, over a mile. Then at 5:30 I did a ride from Grit Mill to Ruins then Techy. 5.81 miles, 1 hour 22 seconds. Next time I'll try to do it in less than an hour.

Tuesday - Home > Ruins > Techy 2x > 1/2 fishtail. 14.05 miles, 1 hour 53 min

Wednesday - Canyon Hollow and Rush, 6.04 miles, 55 minutes

Thursday - Walked to my parents house, pushing Katharine in the stroller. 4.49 miles, 1 hour 17 min. Plus 3 laps walking around the block in the AM

Friday - Ride up the canyon after Natalie got home. Home to Techy 3x then back home. 12.23 miles, 1 hour 47 min. Then took a long cold shower (had to wash my hair, brrr!) And look at this video Corey sent me this morning, woot woot!
He sent it to the college kids too and told them "Looks like Tiffanie is right to fast a lot" Yesss! I'm crossing my fingers that this leads to a little less of the culture of eating around here. We can focus on relationships and activities, there doesn't ALWAYS have to be food involved.

Saturday - We're getting down to the last weekends of riding. Hyrum and Mel were both home today, so we took a long ride. 3 hours 7 minutes, drove to Millcreek canyon, parked at Alexander Basin Trailhead, then rode up to Dog Lake > Desolation Lake > Red pine Rim > Wasatch Crest North > Great Western Trail > Big Water back to the car. 16.11 miles, 2906 feet. The climb up to Desolation lake is a black and it was brutal. I could barely do it walking my bike, my thighs were burning so bad. It was a great ride though.
Pic at the top on Wasatch Crest -
Red Pine Rim - really cool looking into Park City!
Corey took a pic of me doing a lap around Desolation Lake. I'm that little vertical line in the sunlight.

Monday, October 14, 2024

Oct 14 - 19

Monday - Walk from my parents house to our home. 4.5 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes, almost 10k steps!

Tuesday - 9:30 hike with Stephani up Fergueson Canyon to the viewpoint. 3.93 miles, 1532 elevation gain, took 2 hours 28 minutes. I had accidentally left Katharine's backpack carrier in the van, which Abi had at school, so I carried K on my back or shoulders for basically the whole hike.
After 1 hour 40 minutes we were finally at the top!
It was a cool morning in the shade of the canyon, but I was sweaty (see back of my neck) and I kept thinking K wet herself, but it was just my sweaty hands on her seat. It was a good workout and we'll see where I'm sore tomorrow. I love K's little squished sleepy face. She was literally snoring.
4pm ride with Corey from the Quarry trailhead, up to ruins. 6.7 miles, 1 hour 7 min. Then walk to and back from the stake center for my resilience class. Abt .90 each way, 20 minutes each
Wednesday - 5.07 mile walk from home to the Temple Quarry Trailhead and around the path there twice, pushing K in stroller. She took a nap, I didn't bring headphones so I was alone with my thoughts. 1 hour 41 minutes. Forecast shows rain and cold temps this weekend

Thursday - Walk in the rain to Bells Canyon across the bridge and around the reservoir. I left Owen in charge, he did good. 4.39 miles, 1 hour 30 min. 2 chin ups, hang

Friday - 1 pull up, 2 chin ups. 20 handstands, 9 with left leg forward, on 10 I held it as long as I could, got 82 seconds. Then 9 with right leg forward, on #10 I got 42 seconds.

Saturday - Morning stretching. Short hike at 1:15, checking out how wet the quarry trail was after the rain the past 2 days. 1 mile in 25 minutes. Then went home to get Owen to ride with Corey. After seeing them off, I explored a bit more - 2.07 miles in 1 hour. Then went home and got my bike, home to ruins, techy and back home - 11.56 miles 1 hour 34 minutes. 6:30 pm: 1 chin up, 1 pull up

Monday, October 7, 2024

Oct 7 - 12

Monday - 10am 4 mile walk with Katharine in a stroller. 1 hour 18 min.

Tuesday - 10 am 3.82 mile walk to park and back home with K in backpack, didn't love it. Took a few passes on the monkey bars at the park to help my shoulders recover!
Then 6pm hike up the Y for the lighting of the Y for homecoming, carried K half of the way up, all the way down, 2.34 miles, 42 min to get up 1.17 miles, 35 min walk down, all the kids did super great.

Wednesday - Feeling sore from yesterday, so just a walk today - 5:50 went on the quarry trail, from Grit Mill to the end of techy and back, left too late so was in the dark, I'll remember a flashlight for next time. 4.84 miles 1 hour 41 minutes

Thursday - ALSN don't have school, so left K with them and went on a ride in CC, 9am - My thighs are still toast from Tuesday night so kinda let myself just take it easy. Did Ann's and Rush, 6.10 miles, 52 min. Only one achievement - Bronze on boosting corners at 49 seconds (PR 48 seconds) Most of my times are within seconds of each my PRs, so I think I'm pretty consistent with my speed on a lot of the segments.

Then PM walk when Corey took boys on a ride, I was their shuttle driver, dropped them off at Carolina Hills, went to Cycle park to park, then walked up to see where I'd meet them. 1.3 miles in 25 minutes. Then they kept going along Porter Rockwell trail, I walked back to car, parked at Draper City Park, walked until I met them again..47 miles that time, 8 minutes.

Then 8:15 pm walk around the block 3x via inner sidewalk (walked barefoot) 1.17 miles in 24 minutes

Friday - Man, I'm still sore from Tuesday night. Cause I was carrying K in the backpack? I guess an extra 30 lbs could do that to me. Ride with Corey from Trailhead to Ruins, Abi got the boys out the door, so that was nice. We were the first and only car in the parking lot when we started at 7, sunrise at 7:34. 6.67 miles, 1 hour 11 min

Saturday - Ride on Pipeline with CMNOPK. Kids were a bit mopey (N&O - they wanted to go to grandpas to watch the BYU game). 2.4 miles, 38 minutes.

While Corey was at Wayne's, I drove up to Park City for a ride up Armstrong, HAM, and down Seldom Seen. 7.47 miles in 1 hour 13 min, it was beautiful (still some yellows), I listened to General Conference on the climb, tunes on the descent.

11pm - just did 3 chin ups, starting from a dead hang, and doing all of them from a total hang! I did 3! I didn't know I still had that in me! I've kept my upper body strength from climbing better this time than I did last year after our summer break. Excited to start climbing again, hopefully in a few weeks!

Monday, September 30, 2024

Sept 30 - Oct 5

Monday - Loving the autumn colors. Didn't have violin today, so took a long ride in Corner Canyon - 15.91 miles, 2 hours 23 min. BST > Ann's West > Maple Hollow > Vertigo > Eagle Crest > Rush

Tuesday - 4pm ride before my emotional resilience class at 6, went from home to Techy, did Techy 2x, then back home. 11.52 miles in 1 hour 37 min.

Wednesday - 10:30 am ride with Corey and Katharine (on the shotgun seat) to Corner Canyon.

We did Canyon Hollow, then I did Rush (Rush end 2x) while Corey took K to Ghost Falls. 6.54 miles, Stopping for a drink.
I rode with her for a bit and it was hard! I have to have my seat high to see over her, but then I feel like I might tip over, but I gotta pedal fast to make it up the hill. I thought Canyon Hollow would be fairly easy with her but it was hard. So not going to be able to do that tomorrow with Camilla, maybe we'll go on a hike. At home did 60 second handstand and one pull up

Thursday - Ride with Camilla in Corner Canyon, she rode my bike and I was on the silver bike, which was easier to climb in, but could not go fast on the decent, which was ok cause it was Camilla's first time so she was being cautious. 8.94 in 1 hour 34 min. We went up to Potato Hill, explored a bit in Little Valley, then Ann's east, Ghost Falls, and 2nd half of Rush down. Ann's is open, today was the first day, yay! So we didn't have to go up Edelweiss, yahoo.

Friday - Solo 4pm ride up to the Ruins before date night (Corey was with Lily at a band thing until 6:30), also took a little detour to the double track on the way home. Total 13.96 miles, 2 hour 4 min.

Saturday - CC this morning with Corey. Started Coyote Hollow, up BST to Ann's/Potato Hill, then Ann's East, Rush down. Total 6.14 miles, 54 minutes

Monday, September 23, 2024

Sept 23 - 28

Monday - Ride up LCC after violin (at violin right now, so that's the plan) Grounding - check, 25 min raking in the back yard and planting starter pines in a little garden. Stretching - still need to do. Want to get back in the habit of doing it every day for 15 minutes. Actually I'm going to try and stretch for a few min while we're still here at violin...

Tuesday - I bailed out tonight on a class I volunteered to take - an emotional resilience class. I bailed out cause I wanted to go on a ride instead, and today the discussion was on stress and anxiety, and I was FEELING stress and anxiety, and knew the best thing for me would be to go on a ride, so that's what I did. Corey left before me, I saw him on his way down, at the top of avalanche hill. He turned around and went back up with me again from there, so he got in 14.61 miles. I haven't gone to the ruins from home since Aug 27th, so it had been a while. 11.38 miles for me, 1 hour 34 minutes. The techy log was cut and moved last week, but Corey and I put it back today. :) Corey getting the rocks read, then I lifted and walked the log around back to the pile of rocks.

Wednesday - Hike from Orson Smith Trailhead with NODP, left a little too late, I didn't know how long this hike would be cause it was my first time doing it, nor how slow kids are, but I did have a hunch about that. Kids did great though. It was dark when we got back to the car but we made it without a flashlight. 2.37 miles, 1 hour 9 min, started 6:47pm (sunsest 7:17)

Thursday - As soon as Natalie was home from school, I left for Park City for a ride. The mountains are calling me. It was great, Strava didn't work though. I started at 4:30, and was back at the car right at sunset at 7:15. Went up Armstrong, HAM, then up to Midmountain, took midmountain north until I got to Ironman, then turned around and came back. Fun to explore.

Friday - nada. In a real funk today, really wanted to be in the mountains, but had elementary kids home from school today, violin group class at 4, a neighborhood gathering at 6

Saturday - Ride in PC with Corey at 10am (very late start) Armstrong, HAM, Seldom Seen. 9 achievements. PR on Seldom (1.79 mi in 9:01), Lower Spiro, Seldom Flow, Silvers on Armstrong Rock it (.19 2:12) and HAM (.84 in 5:28) HAM down (.48 in 2:55) HAM Spiro Selcom 2.7 in 14:20.

Hike to Lisa Falls tonight carrying K on my back. She's cute.

Monday, September 16, 2024

Sept 16 - 21

Monday - took the day off to let my saddle sore heal. Corey took the bikes in to be fixed, mine was super noisy

Tuesday - raining, 20 handstands, pulls ups as I cleaned the basement for a few hours, not sure how many I did.

Wednesday - Silver bike back, so I took a quick ride up LCC, from trailhead to techy, after I got home from Trumpet with Owen. 6.24 miles, 1 hour 2 min. Not having shocks is not fun, but I did get 3 PRs on the climb!
  • LCC trail climb to 2nd bridge 1.85 miles in 23:13 (115 efforts, a few of my previous times: 9/11 26:03, 9/9 28:19, 8/27 28:25, 8/26 27:03, 8/17 25:51. 8/13 27:27, 8/5 27:04)
  • Little C to 1st bridge .98 in 9.55 (127 efforts, a few of my previous times: 9/11 11:54, 9/9 13:20, 8/27 13:58. 8/26 12:08, 8/17 12:21, 8/13 12:51, 8/5 12:29)
  • Temple Quarry to Mushroomland 2.71 miles in 35:31 (95 efforts, previous times: 9/11 41:00, 9/9 41:08, 8/27 44:18, 8/26 41:24, 8/13 40:35, 8/5 42:57, 7/24 39:52)
Which I think all give evidence that my aluminum frame is very heavy. I was way slower on the way down cause not having shocks will do that on such a rocky trail. Aaaand, it was my 400th activity on Strava, woot!
Thursday - morning walk to sunrise point, 2.34 miles, 42 min, walked there with nothing, then on the way back picked up a prob 10 lb rock and balanced that on my head like a jug of water, working on posture.

Friday - The girls didn't have school today, so Corey and I took the morning off and drove up BCC to Park City. We went to the Midmountain trailhead and took that east to the end of the trail, then went back and HAB's up a service road to take a Deer Valley trail - Holy Roller and Naildriver down. We think the boys would really like it, going to maybe get a lift pass for one day next year at Park City, that would be fun. So just exploring around a bit today. 1 hour 47 min, 10.43 miles, 1575 elevation gain,

Saturday - Sunset ride in CC - I was watching the time 3 hours before sunset cause I wanted to get a ride in, but time was ticking by and THEN Corey wanted to take the kids, and that slowed us down, so we were barely leaving home at 6:30, got to Peakview at 6:50 and dropped off Corey Natalie Owen and Daniel, then I drove down to Coyote Trailhead (took 10 min) and was on the trail at 7:03 and the race between me and daylight was on - Sunset was at 7:25. I watched the sunlight line move up the mountain as I rode up. I made it to the top of Clarks pretty fast - 2nd best out of 8 efforts with a time of 16:33 (PR 16:10) I think I would have beat or tied my PR if I hadn't stopped to take one picture of the leaves.
Got 3 achievements on the climb, 4 on the descent. I got silver on Rush Tom Sawyer (.44 in 1:57) 3rd best for Sustained Speed 1:07 (PR 1:05)

Sept 9 - 14

Monday - Up at the crack of dawn for a ride. I left while Corey was still in bed, cause I wanted to get back to get kids off to school. From home to Techy and back. 10.87 miles, 1 hour 29 min. I met Corey coming up with Katharine and took her from him during the "Power plant down" segment so he could finish his ride kid-free. She's so cute.

Left at 6:30, back at 8. Sunrise at 7:03. Almost never get achievements, but we've done this ride so many times that that's expected.

Tuesday - Morning RUN. I walked just a little bit, I tried to keep jogging the whole time and did pretty good! Set a PR in the 2 mile. 3 chin ups

Wednesday - Quarry ride with Corey, from trailhead to Techy. 6.26 miles, 59:53 min, yay got it under an hour! Got 3 achievements too! A Gold PR on Power plant down - .73 miles in 1:54. Silver for Coalpit Area .53 in 1:44, and 3rd for Fastest section alive - 1.04 miles in 3:40. Also 15 min stretching in the evening. AND I got up the 2nd bridge rocks! I went on the left side, not the right, I was glad I got it today!

Thursday - 20 kickup handstands, 10 each left leg and right leg forward. Then went to temple at 2, and took a ride in Corner Canyon after that. 6.37 miles, 53min. Went up Canyon Hollow to the service road, then to Peakview and Rush +the trees down. 15 achievements, Silver on RUSH 1:34, Rush Speed Vroom Brr 1:36, Gold Full Lower Rush DH 1.94 miles 9:04

Friday - 3 pull ups, hold, and some handstands

Saturday - afternoon ride to Corner Canyon with Corey, Owen and Katharine. We parked at Peakview, the plan was for them to take Canyon Hollow down, and I'd go down Rush then bike back up to Peakview to get the car and meet them at the bottom. It worked according to plan. So for me it was 4.39 miles, 40 minutes, 8 achievements - 4 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze

Sept 2 - 7

Monday - Rode the WOW trail in Midway. 20.21 miles, 2890 feet, 3 HOURS and 32 minutes IN THE SUN. I wasn't expecting the parking to be $10. Next time we'll go to Park City. But I'm glad we did this and checked it off. We started waaaay too late though - 10:30 by the time we were on the trail. I was dying in my long sleeved BLACK shirt. We didn't bring enough water for the 2+ hour climb. Still trying to smile though. Took a BeReal.

Corey's wearing a shirt his sister got for him, kinda goofy. I was thinking about water for most of the climb. We brought 3 small bottles but it was not enough for such a long climb in the sun. I missed the Little Cottonwood creek - if we were by there I could pause and get a drink, or I'd have been in shade and wouldn't be suffering like I was! I was praying to come across a stream. We came across a plastic water bottle that had a hole it in but was mostly full, I gratefully drank it and was able to continue on. Up near the top (2485 meters) we did come across a little cool stream and I drank and drank. Hooray for living water! (and hopefully we don't get giardia...) It was a matter of life and death, er... extreme thirst and dehydration.

Tuesday - 3 chin ups

Wednesday - Morning walk, 3.24 miles, 56 minutes. 1.5 passes on the monkey bars. My palms can't take it.
3PM - drove up LCC for a quick ride before taking O to trumpet - Grit Mill to Techy and back, 5.27 miles, 49 minutes, 2 achievements: 2nd place for Up Mile 2 - 1.01 miles 14:12, 3rd for LCC Road climb, .79 miles in 8:42 (PR was 8:21 11/17/23)

Thursday - lots of yardwork. Not doing good with stretching.

Friday - Corner Canyon with Corey. Anns > Edelweiss > Rush, 7.20 miles, 58 min. Hyrum took carpool for me and got the kids off to school. So that is the good news: Hyrum making is possible for us to even could take a ride. The Bad news: He called right when I was coming down the funnest part of Rush and ruined my soundtrack and I had to stop to answer his call cause for some reason my headphones don't work for phone calls. So with that interruption my music was ruined and I only got 4 achievements cause I had to stop. It's ok, without his help I wouldn't have even been able to go.

Saturday - Ride in Corner Canyon with Corey, Canyon Hollow > Brocks > Rush. 5.63 miles, 48 minues, 13 achievements - PR on Sustained Speed, Brocks and Rush. I learned that on Strava, the part I call "Mario Kart" is called Rush. Got a PR on that today - .38 in 1:34. I also learned today that the segment right after Mario Kart is called "Rush SPEED VROOOOOM BRRRRRRR" and I got a PR on that too, .42 in 1:34. I was bookin' it and had a big smile, that was really fun. Then lots of yard work, bulk clean up on Monday

Aug 26 - 31

Monday - Corey not feeling well, so ride by myself, from trailhead to techy - and back. 1 hour 2 min, 6.32 miles. Fell on the first rock pile of techy. Lodged my front wheel in a rock, and then my right foot got held on my pedal by another rock and so I fell to my right but couldn't catch myself. No scrapes, but I'm sure I'll have lots of bruises tomorrow. Watched this Pacific Rim video (I told Corey several months ago that I want to sign up when I'm 50 years old, or earlier if/when funds allow)

Physical and mental training. Right before bed did a few chin ups, pull ups, and then a hang-on-as-long-as-you-can

Tuesday - Ride from home to the ruins with Corey. Techy on the way down, of course. I also went by the school with Daniel as he was rollerblading there. 11.90 miles, 1 hour 43 minutes. Grounded for an hour as I read on the grass. Had three ice cream oreo sandwiches today, apologies to my body.

Wednesday - stretching, 4 min planks, bridge for 20 seconds, I can barely straighten my arms tho

Thursday - This morning Corey and I went on a long ride. Yesterday I decided that I wanted to go do Pinecone cause Corey said that I would like it (he did it with Kyle our last day at Park City). I decided yesterday to do it today because today is a Thursday (not a Friday/weekend/holiday) and it is the last day that's not a weekend that we have Mel around (she starts at BYU on Monday.) I didn't want to do Pinecone on a weekend cause Kyle said it's too busy "but on a weekday morning you should be good!" so I've been eyeing the calendar for a few weeks but it didn't work with reunion prep and kids and school and then Peter being half day last week - but this week seemed like an ideal time. And I left it until the last chance, but that's usually how Corey and I fly - just taking care of the current fire that we need to put out! So I texted Corey yesterday that I was going to do it, and he said he wanted to come. We woke up the high school kids and then left everyone in Mel's capable hands. We left home at 6:30 for the drive up to Park City. There were only like two other cars in the parking lot when we got there, sweet. It was a good ride - we took Armstrong up, to Mid mountain, then took that south to Pinecone, and that was a long ride, but it was good! Nice and shaded, we saw 5 other bikers on the climb. We got to the top of  Crest - and it was a longer ride than getting dropped off at Guardsman, but yay we didn't have to do Puke hill! Ha, I think that's worth it. There was a big group of people from New Zealand up there and we asked one of the guys to take our pic -
I had hoped to have more of the mountains behind us, but oh well. Before we started out descent, Corey left a message for Wes about the struggle of climbing and learning to keep working even when you're tired. Even if the climb isn't that fun, you're getting stronger.
The ride down was really fun! Pinecone was really fast and flowy. There were 4 bikers (two groups of 2) coming up on our descent but that was good - we didn't have to pull over that much. It went by super quick though. Kinda crazy how long something can take to climb and how quickly it can be descended. we were back at Midmountain before we knew it, then took that south until we got to CMG. I got 19 achievements, and it was my biggest climb! - My strava said 3065 feet elevation, Corey's was 3206. We joke that he has the male version of Strava and it let's him get better times and stats. So finished our ride at 11, got back home at 11:40.

Friday - rest day

Saturday - Corey and I left at 7:44 am and rode up Big Mountain, and we made it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP! 2 hours 15 min climb, 40 min of fun on the descent.
13.60 miles, moving time 2:45, I got all PRs on the descent!
