Jun 24 - 29

Monday - Corey and me, drove to Quarry trailhead. Only thing I didn't get on the climb was the rocks before the 2nd bridge. It was a waterfall today though, I think I'll be able to get it when it's not all wet and slippery. I got up avalanche hill, the rocks after Lisa falls, and I did all of Techy, aka both rock gardens, yay. We did Techgnar and I got most of that on the climb except the skinny tree pass, got it all on the descent, but paused to explore a few features, it's fun. We're getting pretty good, I think our kids would be impressed if they saw what we did (if they could keep up!) we might need to get a drone to show them, or a GoPro.

Showed this video of Ginny MacColl to my mom yesterday. Ginny did her first pull up at 63 and is 72 today and flying around ninja warrior courses. So cool. That's going to be me at 70! My calisthenics for today:

  • handstand against wall 72 seconds, I'll have to try again, I need to do 76 to beat my last time of 75
  • Push ups right after handstand, only got 15 on toes, then 20 on knees
  • 2:30 pm - did 5 chin ups without stopping! Then five 10 second let downs, done at 2:58! That's a new record. We've quit momentum but I'm trying hard to keep my upper body strength and my grip strength
  •  straight into hammer hang, got 90 seconds!!

Tuesday - Ride in Corner Canyon with Corey, did Canyon Hollow, Brocks and Rush Full. 5.39 miles, 45 minutes total, so pretty fast I think! Got 17 achievements, PR on Full Rush Downhill at 9:08. Rush down and then back up to parking lot was 15:31 (Previous best was on Corey's bday 17:12, and 6/12 18:49, with J last week 6/19 it was 24:34, I mostly blame J's bike for that slow time) Then an evening hike up to Twin Lakes Reservoir, 2.99 miles, walking with friends, 1 hour 32 min.

My calisthenics for today:

  • handstand against wall 77 seconds! Barely got it, I was shaking!
  • brief headstand at reservoir
Wednesday - Trailhead to ruins with Corey, Joseph, and Harrison, then Techy and Techgnar. I got 1st rock pile of Techy, not the second one. Did the sticks in Techgnar. 9.08 miles, 1 hour 26 minutes.

Calisthenics:
  • 4 chin ups, 1 jump up, 5 let downs - time 2:53
  • handstands - 69 sec, 51 sec
Thursday - drove up to Idaho

Friday - Dancing at Joseph and Eliza's wedding

Saturday - Bike ride with Eliza's parents at Eagle Bike Park. 7.41miles, 1 hour 2 min,

Jun 17 - 22

Monday - Corey got up at 5:30 with me! (I woke up at 5:14, 1 min before my alarm yay) We were on our way up the canyon at 5:40, went to ruins, did techy AND techgnar, 11.29 miles 1 hour 37 min, 40 min of stretching after we got home, also worked on headstands and handstands, I really liked this video - at 5:18 is where I kinda feel like I’m stuck at (aka it feels impossible), so I like what he did at 5:30! Going to work on that but in a headstand position rather than handstand

Tuesday - Hike with ALSN, L turned around, I kept going with ASN, then we decided to turn around too.
Then met Lily coming back up. ASN still wanted to be done, they went back to the car and drove home, Lily and I went all the way to the big waterfall.
5.59 miles, 2 hour 44 min

Wednesday - Ride with Corey and Joseph to Corner Canyon, Did Anns, Edelweiss and Rush Full, 7.28 miles, 1 hour 4 minutes. 63 sec handstand against wall

Thursday - Ride with Corey up the Quarry Trail to Ruins, did Techy and Techgnar on the way back, 11.24 miles, 1 hour 38 minutes. I hit all the downhill of Techgnar. 10 pull ups in 3:55 (3 chin ups, 7 let downs) 15 min stretching. 73 sec handstand against wall.

Friday - Walk/hike/trail jog from Rocky Mouth to suspension Bridge, 5.11 miles, 1 hour 22 min. 15 min stretching, 75 second handstand in AM

Saturday - ride with Corey and Rob at Park City. Picked him up at 6:15 and we drove up, it was Rob's first time, did Armstrong to HAM, then Seldom Seen. Corey and I both forgot to turn on our Strava but Rob's stats were: 8.09 miles, 1 hour 14 min. Back home at 9, kids were just barely getting out of bed. Did push ups - 25, then 26 on knees, 1 pull up, 4 wide let downs, 1 min wide hang, 62 sec hammer hang, 32 push ups on knees

Jun 10 - 15

Monday - Ride up LCC this morning with Corey. I got up avalanche hill, the rocks (but touched down after the rocks) got over the 3rd bridge pipe, and I got up Lisa Falls too! Good ride, didn't get the two techy rock gardens and my right handlebar caught a tree and I fell, left knee hurts. Made me act a little less aggressive on the ride down. Trail is still pretty wet in lots of places. 1:10 up according to Corey's strava, MY strava said 1:14 even though we were together the whole time!  11.23 miles, 1 hour 40 min

Tuesday - Hike to Bells Reservoir and back. Left at 5:30 am. Would have gone further but I had an emergency bathroom need so I had to cut it short. 4.19 miles, 1 hour 27 minutes. Then at 10pm I wanted to go climb but didn't want to go so late so instead just did some stuff in the basement - 22 push ups on toes, 10-ish some pull ups (two at a time) and body weight holds on Joe's ninja warrior blocks. 20 handstands, 10 each leg forward

Wednesday - 6:30 am ride in Corner Canyon with Corey. Up Ann's and Edelweiss, down Rush. 1 hour 2 min, 7.25 miles.

Thursday - climbing this morning. Joseph was going to come but then ripped the skin on his palm as he was getting his shoes from the top shelf. So Corey and I did top rope for 4 climbs...
  • C&T new orange 5.9/5.10a
  • C&T yellow 5.9
  • T lavender 5.8
  • C&T black 5.10a

...then a little bouldering, there were new climbs in the OG sector. 15 total:

  • 2 V4 attempts
  • 5 V3 attempts - new ones in the OG sector
  • 2 V2 sends
  • 5 V1s
  • 1 V0 - new on in OG
Friday - Up at 5:15, 15 min of stretching, did some reading, then at 6:45 am Corey and I drove to Parley's parking lot then took the Parley's bench southbound, then the BST climb up to Pipeline. Pipeline was really nice! Lots of people on it, but I liked it a lot. We took it to Porter fork then took the road home cause we had been gone a while. 12.97 miles, 1:43 time

Saturday - Happy Birthday Corey! We went on a morning ride to Corner Canyon, did Canyon Hollow the whole way (didn't turn on Brocks) and then Rush Full down (not the trees). 5.75 miles, 52 minutes, 10 achievements. 30 min stretching after we got back. Took kids biking, Corey took NODK and I was with P, it was hot but not much of a workout

June 3 - 8

Monday - Woke up at 5:15am, got dressed, and went to Corner Canyon, arrived by 6. Prepping myself for a 6am ride with my little bro Grant on Wednesday. Did bottom of Rush, then Canyon Hollow, full Rush with the trees and Rush end one extra time. 1 hour 9 minutes, 7.54 miles. Going to do that on Wed wtih Grant, it will be fun!

Tuesday - Bouldering with Corey this morning. I did the orange V2 today! It's a tough one.

Corey was ready to leave and wanted me to get back home to the kids, (and I wasn't really feeling it...) so just I did 16:

  • 1 V3 attempt - New Red in OG
  • 3 V3 sends - Red and White in OG, Lavendar on North boulder
  • 5 V2 sends
  • 7 V1s

Then a ride tonight up LCC with Corey and Rob. We went to the ruins, I got up the climb after Lisa Falls today! My second time this year. The top with the ruins was all washed over - the river is high from the summer temperatures that are here, and so it was all coming down the trail at the top. We did techy, and I hit everything and felt proud, and Corey wanted to show Rob Techgnar so we did that and I did the sticks bridge on that for the first time. I could probably get to like it, I just need to get more familiar with it. I wasn't going to go cause I have a ride with Grant in the morning, but Corey said I should cause it'll be Grants first time and I don't want to be too gung ho for a beginner.

Wednesday - Nice ride with Grant. We did Rush the end, then up Canyon Hollow, Brocks, then Rush and Limelight. 8.99 miles, 1 hour 21 minutes

Thursday - 20 handstands, 30 min of attempting splits stretching, then did P90X Ab Ripper X. I gotta get stronger abs and hip flexors. Also held on to the fingerboards in the basement that Joseph made years ago, I hope if I do that every so often my fingers will stay strong (cause we're probably going to cancel Momentum)

Friday - Morning walk delivering thank you notes for Bella - 1.98 miles, 36 minutes, then drove up the canyon for a walk, started a little below the 1st bridge, 2.44 miles, 52 minutes. 15 min stretching my back backwards (like bridge pose) after I got home

Saturday - This morning I went on an adventurous hike and I learned that I should probably stick to popular trails, cause they are good trails, they are pretty, and safe, etc. The hike I did was sketchy, steep, loose gravel, I slid quite a few times but never fell on my butt but it was not enjoyable cause I had to be so cautious. I only saw two other people during the hour and 40 minutes that I was gone. It was pretty in some spots, but I was also afraid I was going to be attacked by a cougar. I was gone 1 hour 50 minutes, went 3.74 miles, and got 1956 elevation gain! It was fun to see the canyon from a different angle - the canyon parking lot below. Cool -
But from now on I think I'll go on trails I can enjoy as I walk, like LCC, or I'll stick to biking "We should stick to what we're good at..." - Megamind. But so it was all climb with no fun downhill at the end. I wanted to go on a just downhill ride at the end of the day - like have Abi drop me off at the top of the canyon, but we went to a wedding reception instead, so I went bouldering at 9pm. We did cancel it yesterday, so we have until June 14th to climb. I only went twice this week, I'll try to go 3 times next week, but then we'll take a break until winter. Tonight I did 24:
  • 2 V4 attempts - both on south boulder - orange and black
  • 5 V3 attempts - Red V3 on south boulder, Lavender and White on north boulder end prow, black and orange on north boulder Vert Dihedral
  • 2 V3 sends - Red on the 40 wall in the OG (this is my usual) and Pink on north boulder tall slab
  • 1 V2 attempt - the green one. I tried it but wasn't able to do it today
  • 7 V2 sends
  • 7 V1s
