Aug 26 - 31

Monday - Corey not feeling well, so ride by myself, from trailhead to techy - and back. 1 hour 2 min, 6.32 miles. Fell on the first rock pile of techy. Lodged my front wheel in a rock, and then my right foot got held on my pedal by another rock and so I fell to my right but couldn't catch myself. No scrapes, but I'm sure I'll have lots of bruises tomorrow. Watched this Pacific Rim video (I told Corey several months ago that I want to sign up when I'm 50 years old, or earlier if/when funds allow)

Physical and mental training. Right before bed did a few chin ups, pull ups, and then a hang-on-as-long-as-you-can

Tuesday - Ride from home to the ruins with Corey. Techy on the way down, of course. I also went by the school with Daniel as he was rollerblading there. 11.90 miles, 1 hour 43 minutes. Grounded for an hour as I read on the grass. Had three ice cream oreo sandwiches today, apologies to my body.

Wednesday - stretching, 4 min planks, bridge for 20 seconds, I can barely straighten my arms tho

Thursday - This morning Corey and I went on a long ride. Yesterday I decided that I wanted to go do Pinecone cause Corey said that I would like it (he did it with Kyle our last day at Park City). I decided yesterday to do it today because today is a Thursday (not a Friday/weekend/holiday) and it is the last day that's not a weekend that we have Mel around (she starts at BYU on Monday.) I didn't want to do Pinecone on a weekend cause Kyle said it's too busy "but on a weekday morning you should be good!" so I've been eyeing the calendar for a few weeks but it didn't work with reunion prep and kids and school and then Peter being half day last week - but this week seemed like an ideal time. And I left it until the last chance, but that's usually how Corey and I fly - just taking care of the current fire that we need to put out! So I texted Corey yesterday that I was going to do it, and he said he wanted to come. We woke up the high school kids and then left everyone in Mel's capable hands. We left home at 6:30 for the drive up to Park City. There were only like two other cars in the parking lot when we got there, sweet. It was a good ride - we took Armstrong up, to Mid mountain, then took that south to Pinecone, and that was a long ride, but it was good! Nice and shaded, we saw 5 other bikers on the climb. We got to the top of  Crest - and it was a longer ride than getting dropped off at Guardsman, but yay we didn't have to do Puke hill! Ha, I think that's worth it. There was a big group of people from New Zealand up there and we asked one of the guys to take our pic -
I had hoped to have more of the mountains behind us, but oh well. Before we started out descent, Corey left a message for Wes about the struggle of climbing and learning to keep working even when you're tired. Even if the climb isn't that fun, you're getting stronger.
The ride down was really fun! Pinecone was really fast and flowy. There were 4 bikers (two groups of 2) coming up on our descent but that was good - we didn't have to pull over that much. It went by super quick though. Kinda crazy how long something can take to climb and how quickly it can be descended. we were back at Midmountain before we knew it, then took that south until we got to CMG. I got 19 achievements, and it was my biggest climb! - My strava said 3065 feet elevation, Corey's was 3206. We joke that he has the male version of Strava and it let's him get better times and stats. So finished our ride at 11, got back home at 11:40.

Friday - rest day

Saturday - Corey and I left at 7:44 am and rode up Big Mountain, and we made it ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP! 2 hours 15 min climb, 40 min of fun on the descent.
13.60 miles, moving time 2:45, I got all PRs on the descent!

Aug 19 - 24

Monday - First day of school for elementary kids, so I stuck close to home to get them up and out. Just went on a morning walk to the church in my flip flops so I could walk barefoot on the grass. So just walked around the chapel on the grass barefoot, plus used a tree to do 20 "round the world" backbends, 10 each way. 1.65 miles, 30 minutes.

Around noon Corey was going to work at Snowbird so I caught a ride up the canyon, started to do Big Mountain but everything has signs saying it's closed for construction, so then I just came home via Tanners Techy Quarry. 10.49 miles, 1 hour 1 min.

Tuesday - 5 chin ups with jumps this morning, 63 sec handstand, Just Dance with Katharine around 10, then 12 min of planks at 3:30

Wednesday - Clarks and Rush with Corey at 7:22 this morning. 4.41 miles, 39:17 minutes. I missed/skipped dinner last night, so I was kind of dying, so maybe my resolve was weak from lack of food so I got off and walked near the top, Corey is nice to always wait for me.

Thursday -  From home took canyon road to Lisa, then up to Techy, quarry down. 10.63 miles, 1 hour 21 minutes. I hit all of techy and got a PR on it - 2:46! First time I've gotten under 3 minutes.

Friday - Morning walk delivering thank you notes for Bella. 2.25 miles, 39 minutes. Pull ups and stretching.

Saturday - Morning ride from Guardsman to Skyline. My strava cut out for the first 1/4 of the ride for some reason, so we'll use Corey's stats: 22.57 miles, 2 hour 22 min (someone in our group had his chain break twice). 14 achievements - PR for Scotty's Connector 1 mile 5:49. Would have been a longest ride for me, but my strava says it's my 2nd longest. Few chin ups and stretching

Aug 12 - 17

Monday - Corey's bike still in the shop. I drove up LCC and did 4 laps on techy. 3 miles, 38 min moving time. I got Lisa every time, and all of techy 3 times! On my first lap, there was a downed tree across the path, so I spent like 25 minutes gathering rocks to try and make a feature up over the log. It works ok, only it was on a corner, so makes it a sharp turn after you get over, not sure how much I like it, maybe someone will come along with a saw to move the tree... Got a silver on the cool way loop: .77 in 7:30

Tuesday - Corey's bike is back, they loaned him a new shock until his gets repaired. We left at 7:25 am for a ride, he went to ruins, I just went to techy so I could get back so Mel could go to the temple at 9. 10.78 miles, 1 hour 22 min. Kyle Oswald gave me kudos and a comment "You are really killing it Tiff! Way to go!!" :)

Wednesday - 8 am drive up the canyon to Lisa Falls, dirt was loose and soft after yesterday's rain, but it smelled soo lovely! Did 2 loops on Techy, up to ruins, techy 2 more times and up to ruins again, total 2 Ruins and 5 techy. 4.85 miles, 1 hour 2 min. Moved a few more rocks around my new log feature. Might come saw it though, the corner it's at is a bit too sharp. After got home, I raked in the backyard for 4 hours, I made a mountain biking loop for the boys! I think it's gonna be good!

Thursday - 2 pull ups. I noticed a saddle sore yesterday, so taking a few days off the bike I guess...

Friday - 2 pull ups, raking in back yard barefoot, 63 sec handstand

Saturday - Ride early with Corey before we had an 8am church cleaning assignment. He went to ruins, I turned around for home at the 3rd bridge, mainly cause my saddle sore was bothering me. A handstand against the wall, some push ups and pull ups.

Aug 5 - 10

Monday - Quarry trail with Corey, 11.22 miles, 1510 elevation gain. 1 hour 35 min, I wasn't feeling it and ended up going pretty slow on the climb, walked a few times, got up avalanche hill and the 3rd bridge pipe and the two end obstacles, not Lisa Hill or the 2nd bridge rocks. BUT I got all of Techy! Yay

Tuesday - 30 min of stretching, 2 legit pull ups, 5 hop help chin ups

Wednesday - Clarks and Rush this morning with Corey, 4.37 miles, 39:30 minutes, 15 achievements
  • PR on Coyote to the bench .39 mi 5:53
  • PR Clarks Bridge to Bench 1.08 mi 16:44 WOO!
  • PR Clarks and Rush 3.75 miles 34:!5
  • PR Upper Rush flow .64 3:11
  • 2nd Rush Exit Stage left .36 1:34 (PR 1:31 7/27/24)
  • PR on RUSH!!! (my fav part, it's like real Mario Kart!) .38 1:37
6 hop chin ups, 2 min headstands, 5 left handstand, 5 right handstand, 10 hanging knee raises, then repeat in reverse. 45 min stretching while I read

Thursday - Corey went to temple, me at home did 10 min workout recommended by Dr. Livingood (pg 88 of his book), repeated this 3x:
  • 50 sec 180s, 10 sec rest
  • 50 sec push ups (tried on toes, some on knees) 10 sec rest
  • 50 sec jump rope, 40 sec rest
Then stretching for 45 min, and 20 min of earthing/grounding (I laid down on the grass in the backyard with my arms and shins touching).

PM - went for a quick evening ride, did Techy 5 times until it was so dark I fell. I got the Lisa rocks twice! AND Techy 3x! Total distance 3.5 miles, 42 min. 2 achievements:
  • 2nd lap: Silver for Upper Tech Loop .57 in 6:37
  • On my 3rd lap PR "Cool Way" .37 in 3:08
Full lap times: 8:13, 6:37, 8:30, 7:13, 9:17
From those laps above, my Techy times: 3:25, 3:12, 3:41, 3:21, 4:25

Friday - Something is weird with Corey's shocks, so his bike is in the shop, so I did a solo ride this morning. Did short and sweet, Clarks and Rush, 4.31 miles, 38 minutes and 5 seconds, go me! 12 achievements
  • 3rd Coyote to Bench .39 mi 5:57
  • PR Clarks Bridge to Bench 1.08 mi 16:10 (tied Corey and Joseph's best time!)
  • PR Clarks/Rush 2020 3.75 32:03
  • PR Top of Rush all the way down 2.68 mi 14:49
  • PR Full Rush DH Official 2.04 9:00
On the Mario Kart part (RUSH!!!) I got 1:38 today, PR is 1:37 but I must have 1:37/38 a lot over my 32 efforts, cause 1 second slower didn't get me anything. I shall try to go faster there next time!

Watched this video about improving technique on taking corners. Inside knee bent, pedals level, dab, and don't squat, HINGE

Saturday - Corey's bike is in the shop, so he rode my silver bike and we took the road up the LCC. Road up, Quarry down, 1 hour 31 min, 11 miles, 2nd place on "the cool way" .37 in 3:09, 2nd place cool way loop .77 7:42, techy section .35 2:56
